Bandits who kidnapped Senator Marafa’s brother-in-law demand N30million ransom

Armed bandits who raided communities in Zamfara recently are said to have made a demand of N30million as ransom to release Alhaji Ibrahim, the husband of late Ade Marafa, an elder sister to Kabiru Marafa, Senator representing Zamfara Central.

The bandits also set Ruwan Bore community in Gusau Local Government Area ablaze. A resident of the community, who spoke with SaharaReporters, disclosed that the bandits called the family to demand the money before he could be released.

“They have called demanding N30million,” he said adding that the bandits came with the intention of kidnapping Marafa’s sister, but she resisted. When they arrived, they tried to kidnap her, but she resisted. So they killed her, and took away her husband.”

The bandits invaded the community in the early hours of Tuesday, killing 14 people and setting two communities Tungar Takoka and Tudun Wadar Maijatau ablaze. Residents of those areas have moved to Mada and neighbouring communities.

Eleven Nigerians die of COVID-19 in South Africa

The Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA) Says 11 Nigerians have so far died of COVID-19 in the country. In a statement released, the president of the union, Adetola Olubajo, said that the COVID-19 deaths were for Gauteng Province alone, adding that the union is yet to receive figures from eight other provinces in South Africa. Two herbalists arrested for fraud in Enugu State

Two suspected fraudsters, Akin Ogunsemi and Shina Fatola, who specialised in masquerading as herbalists to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, have landed in police net in Enugu. According to Punchng, the suspects are said to be indigenes of Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State. They were apprehended at Ukwuoji, Enugu, on May 1, 2018, by men of the police Anti-Cult Unit.
