Photos: Nigerian Soldiers Smash Boko Haram Fish Smuggling Ring

Troops of 145 and 158 Task Force Battalions, 5 Brigade have smashed a fish smuggling ring perpetrated by Boko Haram terrorists to fund their criminal activities. The success was recorded during a joint ambush operation conducted in Julari village, along Kareto – Damasak road, Borno State. During the operation, troops neutralized 4 Boko Haram terrorists. Similarly, they recovered 1 AK 47 riffle, 1 Toyota Hilux pick up, 3 Motorcycles, 35 bags of dry fish, 1 bag of bush meat, 3 bags of sugar and 60 litres of engine oil. Unfortunately, we lost a soldier during the operation.

A stepmother in Kano state locked these three children in a room in their apartment, hoping they would dies of starvation. The woman who is married to the children's father, allegedly locked them away immediately their father traveled out of the state.    Neighbours however got wind of what she had done and rescued the children who were already emaciated. The case has been reported at the state police command..

A man allegedly killed his son and beheaded him for money ritual. The post shared by one Taskar Gizago is written in Hausa. However, from what we could get after translating it, the man had earlier reported the son missing to the police which prompted a search.  The headless body of the child was later found inside his father's car with one foot chopped off. Last week, one of the negotiators for the release of the 82 Chibok school girls, disclosed that one of the girls refused to be freed saying she's found her husband at the terrorist camp and would love to be with him. In a new video released by the terrorist group, four of the supposed Chibok girls, one of them armed with AK 47, explained why they do not want to return home. The girls spoke in Hausa. "No policeman should extort or arrest you for having a car with tinted windows" - Lagos PPRO, Dolapo Badmus

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 command, Adamu Ibrahim, MNI, has directed that police officers to stop arresting people for using vehicles with tinted glass. Zonal Police P.R.O, SP Dolapo Badmus relayed this message, saying that no police officer has the right to arrest anyone for using tinted glasses and they have been asked to stop demanding for renewal of tinted permit. She however advised the public to get their tinted glass permit which is non renewable.

Massive shake-up in Army

ABUJA— The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has effected a major shake-up in the Nigerian Army High Command, with the appointment of Major-General Lucky Irabor as the new Commander, Multi-National Joint Task Force. General Irabor, who was Commander of  Operation Lafiya Dole that led troops along with General Officers Commanding of 7 Divisions, 8 Task Force Division to defeat Boko Haram in Sambisa Forest, is being replaced with Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru as Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole. General Attahiru, who was General Officer, Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, was until his appointment, Director of Administration, Defence Headquarters. A new General Officer Commanding 8 Task Force Division, Borno, has also been appointed. He is Brigadier-General S. O. Olabanji. LASG clarifies VIOs ban from Lagos roads.

Lagos—The Lagos State government, yesterday, said it has not completely banned the operations of the Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, being performed by Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIOs, in the state. The state Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi, and the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde, said this in separate interviews granted yesterday in Lagos. They said that the VIS officials only went for training to improve their services in line with global best practices. Governor Akinwumi Ambode, on May 4, reportedly ordered the VIOs to keep off the roads following complaints from the public on how they were discharging their functions. EFCC Arraigns Medical Doctor for Alleged Forgery.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday  arraigned one Dr. Mrs Geraldine Orok Ita before Justice I E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross Rivers State on a nine- count charge bordering on forgery and uttering of documents. The defendant is alleged to have forged and uttered the signature of one Mrs Rose Orok Ita, in documents titled "Resolutions"  filed at the Corporate Affairs Commission,  CAC.. One of the counts reads:  That you Dr. Mrs Geraldine Orok Ita "f" on or about the 6th day of November, 2014 in Calabar, within the jurisdiction of this court did make a document to wit; Ordinary Resolution of Sharpnet Concepts Limited by forgery the signature of Mrs Rose Orok Ita on the said document purported to be signature of the said Mrs Rose Orok Ita, being a director/shareholder of the said company and with intent that it may be acted upon as genuine, a pretext which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence

Alleged N190m Fraud: Court Discharges Oronsaye

An FCT High Court, Maitama, on Tuesday discharged Steve Oronsaye, former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, of the N190 million corruption charges levelled against him. Oronsaye was also the Chairman, Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force, set up by former President Goodluck Jonathan. He was docked on a seven-count charge, bordering on breach of trust and diversion of N190 million meant for the committee he chaired. A Nigerian Police Force officer  The Police on Monday in Zamfara said that a suspected armed bandit, one Sani Abdullahi, had been killed in a gun battle with security agents. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Shaba Alkal, told newsmen in Gusau that the suspect died during a gun battle when a group of bandits attacked Yartukunya village in Bungudu Local Government Area of the state. “We also recovered one AK 47 rifle from the deceased suspect,” Alkali said. Ambode Orders VIOs Out Of Lagos Roads

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has ordered the state’s Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIOs out of Lagos roads with immediately effect. PM News gathered that since last week, the VIOs, under the Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, had left all Lagos roads on the order of Ambode. Government sources said the governor ordered the VIOs out of the road for retraining as a result of public complaints and in a bid to reposition the outfit. A source told PM News that the story carried by a national daily recently which alleged that the VIOs burnt to vehicle of a motorist arrested had not gone down well with the governor who would not tolerate unruliness in his administration. Asides this, some complaints about supposed high-handedness and over-zealousness of some VIOs were other reasons the governor ordered them out of Lagos roads until further instruction. Police bust new kidnappers hideout in Ikorodu

In continuation of its onslaught on militants operating from the creeks, Lagos State Police Command early this morning raided and recovered seven army and police bullet proof vests, eight ballistic helmets and nine life jackets from a new kidnappers hideouts in Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos. The hideout was discovered at about 8:00 a.m yesterday by a team of Ikorodu Special Anti – Robber Squad (SARS) and Volunteer Police led by Superintendent Godfrey Soriweiu. This success came two weeks after the discovery of a similar hideout in Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos. Police Arrest Suspected Uber Taxi Hijacker

Uber  The Police in Lagos on Sunday said they had arrested a member of a syndicate notorious for hiring and hijacking Uber Taxi in the state. The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, ACP Olatunji Disu, confirmed the arrest. Disu said the suspect was arrested by his men posted to Oshodi Oke early Friday morning. According to the commander, the suspect operate with two others, who are now at large. “The suspect, Emmanuel John Ugbomah, 37, from Ndukwa, Delta State, was arrested in Oshodi Oke at 12:30 a.m. on Friday while trying to escape after a botched attempt to hijack an Uber taxi, a black Toyota Corolla, belonging to one Adebisi.
