SECRET PLACES TO HIDE JEWELRIES AT HOME

A friend of mine was recently burglarized. Their place was completely ransacked in the process and several valuables were stolen. Fortunately, a few of the most precious items were left unscathed because they were hidden away in a small storage safe disguised as a book, hidden in a pile of other hardbound copies. With the average burglar taking just 8 to 12 minutes inside a home or apartment, hiding away valuables in unexpected spots around the house can make the difference between losing something and losing everything of personal value. Remember, one of the first rooms burglars will likely scour is the master bedroom, because it is generally where jewelry, cash and  security safes  are located. Other areas such as the living room and home office will be targeted next, for easy to carry home electronics. That leaves bathrooms, the kitchen, hallways, mudrooms, and the laundry room better spots for safekeeping duties. Inside an Old Vacuum Cleaner : Hit up a yard sale or fl

CYNTHIA'S MURDERES

Despite the slow pace at which justice travelled in this matter, it is  good that it came after all Understandably, the murder trial gripped public attention from the beginning to the end. Perhaps it could have been faster, and could have taken far less than the five years it took to arrive at a verdict. The crime was committed in 2012 and the suspects were arraigned in February 2013.  However, it may be said that all is well that ends well. Two of the four men tried for the 2012 killing of Cynthia Osokogu were sentenced to death by Justice Olabisi Akinlade of the Lagos High Court on March 23. “The court has no doubt that the first and second defendants killed the deceased,” the judge said as she sentenced them to death by hanging. Justice Akinlade found Okwumo Echezona Nwabufo, 37, and his nephew Olisaeloka Ezike, 27, guilty of drugging, chaining and strangling Cynthia to death at Cosmilla Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos, on July 22, 2012.  Cynthia, a retired general’s daughter

SWIMMING SAFETY FOR CHILDREN!!!

Watch children around water at all times Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children aged one to four. Parents and caregivers must remain vigilant at all times when children have access to water, as the absence of adult supervision is a factor in most child drownings. Here are some simple steps the I  recommend to make the water safer for children this summer: Actively supervise your children at all times in pools, bathtubs, ponds and any kind of water Flotation toys, personal flotation devices, lifejackets or buoyancy swimming gear do not replace adult supervision Children should never be responsible for supervising other children Fence all pools with four-sided fencing and a self-closing, self-latching gate Empty portable pools after each use Swimming skills alone aren't always enough to save a life. Learning  water safety  is also key to preventing emergencies.

IS YOUR HOME SAFE WHEN YOU GO ON VACATION

or many people, summer means vacation and a vacation can mean leaving your home for a longer period of time than usual. Many people who go on vacation wonder if their house will be safe while they are away. When you go on vacation, the last thing you want is a phone call telling you that your house was robbed- or even worse- coming back from vacation and discovering damage and loss. Here are some tips for securing your home. Before you leave, check every door and window to make sure that everything is locked and sealed, including your garage door, shed, and basement windows. Also, make sure that you have no spare keys lying around that are "hidden" under a mat or under a rock. Burglars know where to look and a key gives them easy access. If you have a sliding window or door, put a piece of wood or a long metal rod on the track so that it can't be pushed open. Set timers on lights outside of your house. The darker it is outside your house, the more appealing it is go
