Ugandan police officer kills two colleagues and his girlfriend, before ending his own life

                        A police Officer at Kapujani Police Station in Katakwi district, Uganda shot dead three people, including his girlfriend and the Officer In charge of the station before drowning himself in a river. Deputy Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said the incident happened on Tuesday at the Kapujani Anti-stock Theft Detach. Onyango reveals that the incident occurred when Police Constable Alfred Otto Omara was summoned to the Detach following a misunderstanding with his girlfriend, Esther Anyaiti at around 6pm. “He (Otto) was summoned by the OC Lillian Nanduttu to resolve their issues with the girlfriend Anyaiti who had reported him after a misunderstanding. In the middle of the meeting Otto lost his temper and shot the OC, his girlfriend, another police officer Julius Eremu and an unidentified person was injured on the leg.” said DSP Onyango. Flight attendant arrested for attempting to smuggle 9-pounds of cocaine into the US

  crew member of Fly Jamaica Airways has been arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine into the United States. According to a statement by the US Customs and Border Protection, the drugs were discovered after the man was escorted into a private search room at JFK International Airport in New York on March 17 shortly after his flight arrived from Montego Bay, Jamaica. Federal agents discovered four packages taped to his legs. Nine pounds of cocaine was seized, with a reported street value of $160,000. Photos released by the CBP show the suspect, in his airline uniform, with pants pulled down and white tape around his thighs and ankle. The suspect has been charged with federal narcotics smuggling and will be prosecuted by the US Attorney's Office.

Zimbabwe frees 3,000 prisoners in massive prison decongestion exercise

President  Emmerson Mnangagwa  of Zimbabwe yesterday pardoned 3,000 prisoners as part of government efforts to decongest prisons and improve living conditions of inmates.   Those who benefited from the amnesty, announced by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) include all female prisoners except those sentenced to death or facing life sentences, all juveniles and all people jailed for less than 36 months.   Disabled inmates, the terminally ill and those above 60 years who had served one third of their sentences were also pardoned. The pardon does not apply to habitual criminals previously pardoned but jailed again and those convicted of murder, treason, rape and armed robbery.   Zimbabwe’s prisons are battling overcrowding as they are currently holding 20,000 inmates against a carrying capacity of 17,000.  “As the ZPCS we applaud the move taken by His Excellency (President Mnangagwa) in exercising his prerogative of mercy to some prisoners behind bats,’’ 

Man confesses to killing a woman and stuffing her body into an ice cooler because of $2,000 gambling debt

                      A man who confessed to killing a 29-year-old woman and stuffing her body into an ice cooler in Kandal province, Cambodia told police that he did so because of a $2,000 gambling debt. During a re-enactment of the crime on Monday, Soeu Sopheng, 31, showed police how he wired the bathroom in his house to electrocute the victim as she showered before stabbing her to death. He then showed police how he sold the victim’s motorbike, bought an ice cooler, put her body inside and drove to the bridge. Kandal Provincial Police Chief Eav Chamreoun said Sopheng, a phone repairman in Sen Sok district’s Phnom Penh Thmey commune, will be sent to Kandal Provincial Court next Tuesdayand is expected to be charged with premeditated murder. Two other suspects arrested on Sunday – Sopheng’s brother and wife. They were released later that day after questioning. Teenage girl abandons her newborn baby after delivery at a health centre in Cross River State

                  A teenager identified Mary Bassey abandoned her newborn baby after delivery at Anderson Primary Health Center, in the creeks of Calabar South, Cross River State on Tuesday morning, March 20. The Director General, Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu, who rescued the newborn baby boy has named him Anderson Ayade. According to the staff on duty during the incident, Mrs Elizabeth Offiong, a Chief Community Health Officer said on her arrival at the health center by 7.35am she met a young teenage girl at the door post of the facility lamenting over lower abdominal pains. "I thought it was an infection because most teenage girls here have STIs and will usually reject condom. but when she was examined, I found out the young girl was pregnant and was passing through labour. While receiving the recently released Dapchi school girls at the state house Abuja this morning, President Buhari appealed to the parents of the remaining Chibok school girls not to lose hope as his administration will soon secure the release of their daughters who were abducted on April 14th 2014.  ''While parents of the Dapchi girls rejoice because of the reunion with their children, I want to appeal to the Chibok Community never to lose hope or to despair. We are determined as never before, to bring back our remaining Chibok daughters. And this, we must accomplish. And that will be soon by God’s grace'' he said

Raped Chrisland school student testifies in court about the "bad things" done to her

                         The Chrisland school student allegedly raped at the age of 2 years and 11 months by the school's supervisor testified in court on Thursday and confirmed that she was sexually abused. The child, who is being identified as Child X, was quite eloquent as she recounted the abuse allegedly perpetrated by 47-year-old Mr Adegboyega Adenekan. She said he put his mouth in her "wee wee", put his hand in her "wee wee" and put his "wee wee" in her "wee wee".  She said the first time was in the school toilet and the second time was in the hall. She said she ran the second time and tried to report to her teacher but the teacher did not believe her so she told her mother. She said: "I did not like what he did, he put his hand in my wee-wee, he put his wee-wee in my wee-wee and he put his mouth in my wee-wee." Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kill 3 people in fresh Plateau attack

                Three people have been reported killed in a fresh attack that occurred last night as gunmen suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen attacked Dong Community of Jos North LGA in Plateau State.   The suspected Herdsmen attacked the community when they laid ambush on the vigilante group of the community shooting sporadically last night around 9 pm. It would be recalled that Dong Kassa, Jos North LGA and Rafiki Village in Basa were simultaneously attacked last week where about 8 security personnel and more than 25 civilians were killed in the attack while COCIN church also was set ablaze by the attackers.     The Police Public Relation officer of the Plateau State Command DSP Matthias Terna said he is yet to get more details of the attacks by the Divisional Police officer of the Area.  “I was told there was an incident at Dong, but am still yet to details from the Divisional Police officer of the Area, as soon as that is done I will let you know”, he said. 

Mother of withheld Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu, makes an emotional plea for her daughter's release

Mrs Rebecca Sharibu, the mother of the Christian Dapchi Girl, has appealed to the Federal government to do everything it can to ensure the fast release of her daughter, Leah Sharibu, from Boko Haram captivity. The sect members held on to Leah after she refused to denounce her Christian faith. In an interview with the Nation, Leah's mother said her daughter sent a message to her that her family should pray for the will of God to be done in her life. Mrs Sharibu went into coma after her daughter and the remaining 109 girls were kidnapped by the sect members on February 19th. She has however regained conciousness but is still in a very sober mood.  “The released girls told us that the insurgents insist that my daughter must denounce her religion. But she told them she has no single knowledge of Islam and can’t be. Catholic nun bleeds mysteriously from her eyes, palms and feet in Enugu

                        A bizarre incident is currently happening in Ogbodu village in Enugu Ezike, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State. A Catholic nun and member of the Religious Order of Virgins, Martina Offorka, is bleeding mysteriously on the feet, palms and eyes. Not only that, she is also reported to have Holy Communion inside her mouth,  with claims that it was given to her mysteriously. The Sun reports that the reverend sister who hails from Ifite in Anambra State, has been experiencing these strange occurences for over half a decade now, especially during the Lenten period.                               A serving youth corps member has been arrested for raping and impregnating his student. Facebook user, Isreal Joe, who made the allegation on his Facebook page, wrote ''A youth corp member defiled an eleven (11) year old JSS 2 student. Simple instruction to carry out home lessons have ended the little girl with pregnancy. The Nana College Warri student now goes through the pain of abuse and molestation. While he will be charge to court and a notification has been sent to NYSC national secretariat, we insist that parents must be careful with those they leave with their children. Trust no man. Photos of the young father of two and UN aid worker killed by Boko Haram in Rann, Borno State

Yawe Sonter Emmanuel, a staff of IOM, the United Nations Migration agency, an aid group providing humanitarian services  for those people displaced in the North Eastern Nigeria and the Cameroon, died at an IDP camp in Rann, near Maiduguri when Boko Haram terrorists attacked the camp on Thursday evening March 1. A large number of Boko Haram members armed with automatic weapons, Rocket Propelled Grenade and gun trucks attacked the military base in Rann, in Borno State, with superior fire power.  There is also an Internally Displaced persons camp there. During the incident four soldiers, four mobile police and three humanitarian workers including, Ibrahim Lawan, Yawe Emmanuel and Dr.Onyedikachi Izuogu, lost their lives and another three humanitarian workers were injured. President Buhari gave the warning while speaking when he received the freed Dapchi school girls at the state House today March 23rd. This country has suffered enough of hostility. Final year Imo State University student shot dead by unknown man on her 23rd birthday

A 400 level Banking and Finance student of the Imo State University, Owerri, was reportedly shot dead by an unknown gunman on Wednesday, March 21, her 23rd birthday. Confirming the incident, Victor Adiele, President of Banking and Finance students association  (NABAFS), said the news came as a great shock to the department. European Union commends President Buhari for the release of abducted Dapchi schoolgirls

                      The   European Union   has commended   President Muhammadu Buhari   for the release of the abducted   Dapchi   schoolgirls. The EU in a statement by its Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,   Catherine Ray,   expressed relief over the release as it called for the liberation of other girls in the custody of the Boko Haram   ”With great relief that we learnt about the release of the majority of the abducted Dapchi girls in Nigeria. They can now return to their families and have the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Yet not we cannot forget that not all were so fortunate. We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the girls that lost their lives. Missing 17-year-old-girl found stoned to death in South Africa

The lifeless body of a 17-year-old-girl from Ga Riba, Limpopo, South Africa was found on Thursday morning, March 22, near a mountain at the village. Pretty ‘Snini’ Mashoeu, a learner at Letau Secondary School, was reported missing last Friday, March 16. Limpopo police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, who confirmed the incident, pleaded with residents to help with information that can lead to the arrest of her killers. “We plead with residents to contact the Tubatse police to help in apprehending the suspects.” he said. Gunman takes hostage in supermarket in France, kills at least 3 before he's shot dead by police

At least three people were killed and two injured today after a terrorist took hostages in a supermarket near Carcassonne in southern France. The gunman who claimed allegiance to the Islamic State group was eventually killed by police, ending the hostage situation.  He is believed to be a Moroccan who was on a watchlist of suspected Islamic extremists after he carried out three separate attacks in the medieval town of Carcassonne and nearby Trebes. The attacker had began his rampage by hijacking a car in Carcassonne on Friday morning, in which he killed a passenger and injured the driver. He then shot at a group of policeman, injuring one officer before driving to the supermarket, where he opened fire leaving two dead. He had pledged allegiance to terror group Isis, whose propaganda agency then claimed the attack saying gunman was a "soldier of Islamic State". Deputy Senate Ekweremadu sells off two US properties below market value to stop Nigerian government from seizing them

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has reportedly sold two of his three properties in Kissimmee, Florida, United States of America to avoid them being seized by the Federal government. According to SaharaReporters, the townhouses are located at 2747 Club Cortile Circle and 2763 Club Cortile Circle, Kissimmee, Florida. The properties which were bought in 2008 for $200,000 each were put on the market in January and sold for $150,000 to the same buyer on February 20 2018. Both properties, according to SaharaReporters, were sold below prevailing market value by Ikweremadu and there are plans to also put the third one, situated at 4507 Stella Street, Bellavida Estate Kissime, Florida, up for sale, but he is yet to find a buyer.  The owner of the property said to be worth $500,000, is still listed as the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu with his Enugu address clearly stated on the property did.
