EFCC Confiscates Properties And Bank Accounts Of George Turnah

The Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has taken over some bank accounts and properties traced to a former Special Adviser to Dan Abia, erstwhile managing director of Niger Delta Commission, NDDC, Mr. George Turnah . The confiscation was done on Thursday sequel to an interim forfeiture order  granted the Commission by a Federal High Court sitting in  Port Harcourt, Rivers State. One of the properties covered by the forfeiture order and which had been attached by the EFCC is a massive complete building known as “KOLO VILLA” in Kolo Town, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Other properties will soon be attached. Street Traders Stone KAI Officer To Death In Lagos

Street traders have stoned an officer of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) to death in Lagos. The KAI officer, identified as Moshood Ayeni was stoned at Iyana Oworo axis of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. The late Moshood  PM News gathered that Ayeni was stoned to death before Ogudu lay-by on the highway by traders on their way back to the office on Tuesday. An officer of the KAI team who gave his name as Mr Okarutu Eneji said the team moving with Green Maria van marked KRD 643 DS apprehended one Jeremiah Nnana 28 years old hawking Gala and another hawker, Orichi Nwofokoh 20 years old for selling phone accessories along the highway. Eneji said, “The two illegal highway hawkers started shouting and calling the attention of other hawkers around and in no time they gathered and started throwing stones at the Green Maria van.” He said the stones eventually hit the deceased’s head, became unconscious and fell down from the vehicle. Militants Abduct 6 Students From Lagos State Model Secondary School In Epe

A gang of militants, early on Thursday morning, struck at Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, abducting six students from the boys' hostel. Earlier in the week, the kidnappers had written to the school, informing the authorities of their plan to strike.   The school management promptly notified the Nigerian Police, which sent its men to take strategic positions around the school. However, the Police were overwhelmed by the number of militants and the sophisticated weapons they carried. The kidnappers are believed to be Niger Delta militants, who have been involved in a variety of criminal activities in the area. Last October, kidnappers attacked the same school seizing four students,  two members of staff, including a Vice Principal.

Area Commanders, DPOs On Payroll Of Fraudsters – Lagos CP

Lagos State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni has warned Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the state police command to shun bribery or leave the state, saying that some of them are on the payroll of fraudsters. Owoseni stated this during a lecture on Code of Conduct for Law Enforcement Officers at the Police Officers’ Wives’ Association (POWA) Hall, Ikeja. He warned that the era of impunity and corruption among cops was gone, appealing to his subordinates to come for transfer if they would not want to play by the rules in the state. He said: “I am tired of hearing about shooting or killing of innocent persons. No one has the right to take another man’s life. Coup Scare: Container-Load Of Arms Found In Lagos Port

Another container filled with arms has been discovered at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos, the Nigeria Customs disclosed on Tuesday. A source at the port told PREMIUM TIMES that the container was found at the Ports and Cargo Terminal of the Tin Can Island Ports. “As I speak to you, they’ve ordered everyone to go out of the terminal and they have locked up everywhere,” the source said. The spokesperson of the Nigeria Customs, Tin Can Island Command, Uche Ejesieme, confirmed the incident and said details would be made public later. “We are still counting,” Mr. Ejesieme told PREMIUM TIMES over the phone. The discovery of the arms is coming barely a week after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Boko Haram Kills Another Army Lieutenant, Police Sergeant

In continuation of their onslaught against Nigerian communities and soldiers in the Northeast, Boko Haram insurgent on Wednesday evening killed a Nigerian Army lieutenant during an ambush in Borno State. A security source in Maiduguri says Boko Haram terrorists killed a Nigerian army Lieutenant in an attack in Magumeri town in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State. The source said the militants ambushed Lieutenant AC Oguntoye and his colleagues on their way to Gubio from a shooting range competition in Monguno. The officers were pinned down by terrorists in Magumeri where they razed down houses, including a police station in the town. The militants, according to SaharaReporters, rode into the area in 10 utility vehicles, shooting and attacking military formations. Man Docked For Rape in Bariga

A 25-year-old unemployed, Sunday Salami, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday for alleged rape. The accused is facing a charge of allegedly raping his neighbour’s daughter. The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 11 in his residence at Buraimo Street, Bariga in Lagos State. Ogu said that the accused invited a 14-year-old girl, daughter of his neighbor, into his room on the pretext that he was sending her on an errand. “The accused shut the door at her and raped her,’’ he said. Ogu said that the girl told her mother, who reported the case to the police which led to the arrest of the accused. The offence contravened Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The law provides that any person, who contravenes the section “is guilty of a felony and liable to imprisonment for life’’. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
