LASG owes Legion over 4 months salary arrears

Nigeria Legion Badagry Chapter of the Nigerian Legion has appealed to the Lagos State Government to immediately pay four months of salary arrears being owed its members. The Chairman of Nigerian Legion in Badagry, Mr Gabriel Asanbe, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday. According to him, nonpayment of the salary since January this year has made life unbearable for the 135 ex-servicemen providing security services to schools and other public institutions in Badagry. “Since January, men of Nigeria Legions employed under the service of Lagos State Government have not received their monthly salaries till date. “This has created hardships for us, as members cannot afford the payment of their wards school fees while some now rely on their wives for feeding and transportation to work daily. “The situation is very pathetic as the welfare, security of Nigerian Legion members in the state are not being given proper attention. “While ot

Easter message: Save lives, not destroy, Catholic Bishop tells Nigerians

Pope Francis Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese in Nasarawa state, Most Rev. Matthew Audu, has called on Christians to strive to save lives and not join in destroying them. The bishop made the call in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Lafia after celebrating the Easter mass. He said that the call was imperative given the rate at which some Nigerians were taking the lives of fellow human beings. He said that nobody had the right to take the life of another. According to him, people should make sacrifice for people who are in need just as Jesus Christ did for the salvation of mankind. The cleric said that there was need for Christians to make sacrifices for people who were in need just as Christ died for the salvation of mankind. The bishop noted that insecurity in the country called for serious prayers for God’s intervention. He, therefore, admonished perpetrators of criminality in the country to desist or face the wrath of God.

ZlatanIbile rescued by soldiers after being beaten by rival cultists

It was chaos, last night, at the  Gateway  polytechnic, Saapade,  #Ogun  State, as singer  ZlatanIbile  was beaten up on stage by suspected members of the  Eiye  confraternity. Trouble allegedly started when the singer got on stage late for his performance. Matters, however, got worse because he was rocking a beret of his  Aiye  cult group. . Angered by his effrontery, one Eiye cultist identified as  #Ronaldo , approached Zlatan and removed the beret before attacking him. To prevent further anarchy, soldiers immediately moved in to whisk the singer away.

                                    The Chairman, Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, Attahiru Ahmad, has apologised to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) over its recent allegations that innocent citizens were killed in the state during air strikes by personnel of the Air Force. The Chairman Council of Chiefs, who is also the Emir of Anka, made the apology when a seven-man high powered investigation team led by Idi Lubo visited him at his palace in Anka on Saturday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the traditional rulers had, a fortnight ago, alleged that air strikes on suspected bandits camps hit at and killed innocent citizens in some parts of the state. Process For Forfeiture Of Onnoghen’s Funds To Begin On Tuesday

The process of taking ownership of the funds lodged in five bank accounts opened in the name of Walter Onnoghen, former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), is set to begin on Tuesday. Onnoghen was convicted last Thursday by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on charges of breach of the Code of Conduct for public officers. He was found guilty of fraudulent asset declaration. The three-man tribunal, led by Danladi Umar, ordered Onnoghen’s removal as the CJN, and as the Chairman of both the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Federal Judicial Service Commission as punishment for his alleged offences.  Onnoghen was also banned from holding any public office for a period of 10 years. Furthermore, the tribunal also gave an order that funds in the five bank accounts, which the defendant failed to declare as part of his assets in breach of the Code of Conduct for public officers, should be forfeited. Gunmen kill foreign tourist, 3 others in Kajuru Castle

A foreign tourist and three others have been killed by gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen attacked the popular Kajuru Castle around 11:30 am on Friday. “We understand she was gun down from the hill by the kidnappers, who tried to gain entrance into the castle but failed. “They took away about five other locals since last night but one person escaped,” he said. ‎The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, while confirming the incident in a statement, said only two people were killed.
