Woman found dead hours after Facebook post about being called a "fat ugly c***"

A mother-of-four has been found dead just hours after sharing a Facebook status suggesting she had been called a "fat ugly c***" Alli MacDonnell, 36, who had four children aged 2 to 15, took to social media yesterday to write about the verbal abuse: Why is it ok for a man to call a girl a fat ugly c***?????? Seriously new level of pushing someone to the edge. Facebook users replied the post, telling the autism awareness campaigner that it "is not OK" and urging her to rise above the abuse. A short while after sharing the Facebook post, the mom was found dead. It is not clear if the post was linked to her death. Singer, Melissa Whiskey's mother murdered by her aggrieved workers in Lagos

                                              A Nigerian singer, Melissa Whiskey's mum, Mrs Abimbola Olusola(right), was recently murdered in Lagos state by her aggrieved staff. Mrs Olusola who owns Etashol Hotel and Suites, and the manager of her hotel, Tunji Omikunle, were strangled by some workers at the hotel located on Budland Street in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State, on January 24th. Mr Omikunle According to the police, Olusola who lived in London for 35 years, returned to Nigeria in 2018 to set up a hotel in March of the same year. Olusola and Omikunle had recently discovered that some of their employees had defrauded the company of money running into millions. They were handed over to the police and sacked afterwards. Three-month-old baby burnt to death in Kano

A 3-month-old baby, Mohammed Sani, was burnt to death in a fire outbreak in Kano on Tuesday February 5th. According to reports, Mohammed's parents lived in a two-bedroom apartment at Sheka Yar’ Kasuwa in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano where the fire started. The mother of the child was the only one at home and had run out of the house in search of help from neighbours when the fire started. Unfortunately, the child died in the raging fire before men of the state fire service could contain it. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Court remands man in prison for allegedly stabbing another man to death over his refusal to accept Islam

On Tuesday, an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos remanded a man identified as Habeeb Eletu, for allegedly stabbing to death, a man over his refusal to accept Islam. The defendant, 26, whose plea was not taken, is being tried for malicious damage and murder. The Prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Omisakin told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 22, at 9.00p.m., at Awoyaya Town in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State. Omisakin said the defendant allegedly became furious and dashed out at night on the said date, confronting whoever came his way to accept Islam. The defendant was said to have insisted that whoever refused to accept his religion would either be stabbed or have his property damaged. Man killed after being electrocuted by ‘charging phone' while using earphones to listen to music

A Thai man has been killed after being electrocuted charging his phone while using earphones to listen to music in Thailand.  Police said they found 24-year-old Kritsada Supol on his mattress with his Samsung device plugged into a power point with a cheap charging cable. When the property owner visited his room in Chonburi the next morning, police said the body of the man who is factory worker was found with signs of burning around his ears.                           According to the Sun UK, he appeared to have been listening to music or talking to someone, with the microphone section of the earphones resting over his lips.   Police Captain Jaleuk Polthong from the Phan Thong Provincial Police Station in Chonburi, Thailand , said they believe that Kritsada was electrocuted while using the earphones and charging his smartphone...

Gunmen kidnap Katsina assembly chief whip's daughter, two others

The daughter of the Chief Whip of Katsina state House of Assembly, Bello Abdu Danmusa has been reportedly kidnapped. Hajiya Amina Danmusa is married to Muftahu Yakubu Ciro in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State,  where the incidence occurred. According to Daily Trust, although no ransom has so far been made, sources close to the family said the incident took place when the bandits attacked her residence purportedly to kidnap her husband who wasn’t available at that time. Attempts were also made that night to kidnap another elderly woman, Baba Maiwaina, who sustained injuries and was abandoned by the abductors. FG reacts after Teachers of a boarding school for deaf kids in Abuja are accused of sexually exploiting the pupils

The Department of State Security DSS and the Nigeria Police have began an investigation into an alleged abuse of some pupils of the Abuja School for the Deaf in Kuje. The security agents were alerted recently after suspected ritualists invaded the school, abducted and molested some pupils, while initiating some others  into cult groups. One of the parents of the affected students who spoke on Brekete (a breakfast programme on Human Rights radio) in Abuja on Tuesday February 5th, said that her son who attends the school had been molested by teachers in the school. It was gathered some parents also brought the matter to the attention of the Federal Ministry of Education who contacted the Federal Capital Territory Administration, the government authorities overseeing the school. Ebonyi man stabs his neighbor to death over loud music

                                   The police in Ebonyi state have arrested a 50-year-old man, Cyril Oko, for stabbing his 25-year-old neighbor, Peter Nkwuda, to death on Monday February 4th. According to the police, the deceased and the suspect stay in Oroke Onuoha area of Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state. Trouble started when Peter started playing music from his room, raising the volume very high to the discomfort of his other neighbors. Bandits who kidnapped Senator Marafa’s brother-in-law demand N30million ransom

Armed bandits who raided communities in Zamfara recently are said to have made a demand of N30million as ransom to release Alhaji Ibrahim, the husband of late Ade Marafa, an elder sister to Kabiru Marafa, Senator representing Zamfara Central. The bandits also set Ruwan Bore community in Gusau Local Government Area ablaze.  A resident of the community, who spoke with SaharaReporters, disclosed that the bandits called the family to demand the money before he could be released. “They have called demanding N30million,” he said adding that the bandits came with the intention of kidnapping Marafa’s sister, but she resisted. Zimbabwe's Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga airlifted to South Africa for emergency medical treatment

Zimbabwe’s Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has again been airlifted to a South African hospital for emergency medical treatment after his health had deteriorated over the weekend. According to reports, Chiwenga fell ill after attending a brief politburo meeting and checked in at Avenues Clinic; an elite hospital in the capital Harare. Chiwenga was later airlifted to a hospital in Cape Town after his health deteriorated over the weekend. Back in October 2018, the VP was treated for “exhaustion” and 1980s injuries from the war of liberation. Chiwenga and his wife, Mary, have been showing signs of illness, with visibly swollen hands and discoloured skin patches, something he said was due to poisoning. Last year, Chiwenga suggested he was paying the price for removing former President Robert Mugabe, triggering speculation he might have been poisoned.

21-year-old Indian television actress commits suicide after a failed relationship

Popular Telugu TV actress, Naga Jhansi committed suicide at her residence in Hyderabad by hanging herself on Wednesday. The 21-year old actress is said to have taken such an extreme step after a failed relationship with her boyfriend Surya aka Nani. Jhansi and Nani are said to have been in a relationship for a while now but Nani's parents were against their relationship. They were unhappy with him planning to get married to Jhansi and this did not go down well with her. Two taken into custody after teen was stabbed to death near Prince George’s school

Two people have been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in south London. The men, aged 19 and 27, were arrested after they arrived at a hospital shortly after the murder which took place in Battersea, less than half a mile from Prince George’s primary school. Police and London Ambulance Service were called to Wolsey Court, off Westbridge Road, at 7.52pm on Tuesday following reports of a stabbing. The police arrived to find a 19-year-old with stab wounds. He died at the scene at 8.36pm. The Metropolitan Police said a murder investigation has been launched after the teenager was stabbed to death. They added that the two men arrested in relation to the stabbing were taken to separate police stations and the victim’s next of kin have been informed.

Kidnap gang notorious for selling children nabbed by police in Enugu

Operatives of the Enugu State police command have arrested a notorious kidnapping ring that specialized in abducting children from schools located in the six local government councils in Enugu east senatorial zone and whisking them to neighbouring states for sale. U.S. Coast Guard seizes 35,000 pounds of cocaine worth $466 million in Eastern Pacific Ocean

The U.S. Coast Guard announced a major drug bust after they seized close to 35,000 pounds of cocaine from suspected drug smuggling vessels in Eastern Pacific Ocean. The drugs, worth an estimated wholesale value of $466 million, were intercepted off the coasts of Mexico, and Central and South America and off-loaded in Port Everglades, Florida on Tuesday, the Coast Guard said in a news release. In the statement, it was revealed that the U.S. Coast Guard offloaded approximately 34,780 pounds of cocaine. Six different crews seized the drugs from 21 separate vessels stopped in Pacific waters. The haul was the "result of the collaboration and coordination of multiple Coast Guard and interagency assets to address the complex maritime challenge of transnational criminal organizations,” Cmdr. Michael Sharp said. Most of the drugs originate in Colombia and are destined for the U.S., according to Schultz.

Kenyan man commits suicide after failed attempt to kill his pregnant wife

                                     A 3 months pregnant woman, Susan Atieno, 24,  is nursing serious stab wounds at Coast Provincial General Hospital (CPGH) in Mombasa following a botched murder by her husband. 28-year-old Daniel Okello, took his own life after trying to kill his wife in a bizarre incident that stunned their neighbours at Sisi kwa Sisi in Changamwe. She was stabbed four times in the chest, and other parts of her body, during the attack at about 1am on Tuesday. A young man is currently on the run after raping a 5-year-old girl through the anus and vagina. The man, who is the son of the landlady, raped the daughter of a tenant at No. 47 Erede Street, Ekerube in Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos. The man lured the victim into his apartment, pulled her underwear and penetrated her both through her private and anus. He then warned the girl not to tell her parents or he will kill her. Businessman, Nicholas Emenike bags 7-years in jail for N4.4m fraud

The Enugu Zonal Office of EFCC has secured the conviction of a businessman, Nicholas Emenike for advance fee fraud. Emenike who owns Raso Construction Company Limited, was on March 27, 2017 arraigned at an Enugu State High Court, on a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N4,467,500. His ordeal began in 2015 when he was reported to the EFCC by a complainant who alleged that Emenike deceived him into supplying rods for the execution of a multi-million naira building contract he claimed to have won. After supplying the rods, Emenike issued a post-dated cheque, which was returned unpaid. Investigation by the EFCC, however, revealed that Emenike was never awarded any contract, as there was no document to support his claim. It was further established that he sold the rods and diverted the proceeds to his personal use. He had pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.
