Police investigate alleged sale of baby boy for N300,000 in Enugu

         The Police Command in Enugu State says it has commenced investigation into the alleged sale of a baby boy for N300,000 in the state. The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, made the disclosure in a statement in Enugu  on Saturday . Amaraizu said that the investigation commenced on May 3 after the command arrested one of the buyers. He said that the mother of the baby boy identified as Nwanneka Ezechi, 30, from Akama Oghe in Ezeagu Local Government Area was said to have been impregnated by yet to be identified man. The police spokesman said that Ezechi later disappeared from home to an unknown destination. “It was further gathered that in November, 2017, she declared that she had given birth to a baby boy but this was not disclosed to the family,’’. He said that when the family discovered that she had given birth and the whereabouts of the baby was not known, they reported to the police who arrested the lady. ...

Multichoice loses N200 million to suspected fraudsters

                   Three suspected fraudsters have been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly hacking into DSTV, GOTV computer network data belonging to the Management of Multichoice Nigeria Limited. The suspected fraudsters are Mor Diop, 49, Ekeng Ewa Ekeng, 44 and Anabel Adagbasa, 26. Also charged was Nigcom Network Solution Ltd, the company the accused persons allegedly used to perpetrate the alleged fraudulent act. Mubi suicide bomber captured on camera moments before the blast that killed over 80 people

                         A photo that is believed to show one of the suicide bombers mingling in the crowd moments before detonating his suicide vest at a mosque and market in Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Tuesday, has emerged According to reports, the photo was taken by CCTV camera in one of the shops around the mosque. 21-year-old South African midfielder, Luyanda Ntshangase dies after getting struck by lightning

                   Midfielder Luyanda Ntshangase from South African top-flight side Maritzburg United died today, two months after being struck by lightning during a friendly fixture. The promising 21-year-old had been in an induced coma since the March 1st incident and the club said he had succumbed to his injuries in a statement released today. “We are extremely sad about the loss of Luyanda, an exciting young player with enormous potential,” Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia said in a statement. Former banker, Nsa Ayi jailed 7 years for N700m frau

                    Nsa Ayi, a former relationship officer, Coronation Merchant  Bank, has been sentenced  to seven years imprisonment for diverting clients N700 million meant for Federal Government bonds, treasury bills and fixed deposits. He was sentenced today by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, Lagos. The convict, who was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on February 26, 2018, on an 11-count charge, was accused of altering instructions and falsifying signatures of customers to transfer money into various accounts outside the bank.                                A federal judge has ordered Shawn Carter 'Jay-Z' to explain why he shouldn't have to testify in an SEC probe into Iconix, the company that now owns the Rocawear clothing brand he co-founded. 13 human trafficking victims rescued at a guest house in Abuja by NAPTIP operatives

Two herbalists arrested for fraud in Enugu State

                       Two suspected fraudsters, Akin Ogunsemi and Shina Fatola, who specialised in masquerading as herbalists to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, have landed in police net in Enugu. According to Punchng, the suspects are said to be indigenes of Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State. They were apprehended at Ukwuoji, Enugu, on May 1, 2018, by men of the police Anti-Cult Unit. Items recovered from them are some fake foreign currencies, charms and other suspected shrine materials.

APC chairmanship aspirant stabbed to death in Delta

                           An APC chairmanship aspirant at Jeremi Ward 10 (III), Ughelli South Local Government, Jeremiah Oghoveta, was stabbed to death during the party ward congress today May 5th. According to reports, Jeremiah was stabbed to death near God’s Grace Ministry at Okwagbe Town allegedly by the younger brother of one the leaders of the party in the area. Jeremiah had witnessed the hijacking of electoral materials by some members of the party and had protested. In anger, one of the party members engaged him in a fight and in the process stabbed him in the neck. The suspected killer fled the scene afterwards.

Court orders police to relocate Dino Melaye to National Hospital Abuja

                                          Justice Nasir Ajanah of the Kogi State High Court in Lokoja has given an interim order that embattled senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, be moved from police custody in the state to the National Hospital Abuja, for further treatment. Recall that a magistrte court in the state yesterday ordered Melaye to be remanded in police custody till June 11th after he was arraigned for unlawful possession of arms and funding of a criminal group. Melaye is currently nursing injuries he sustained after jumping off a police van last month

Brave South African father shoots dead two armed robbers who threatened to kill his baby

             A young South African father shot three intruders that held him and his wife captive while threatening to kill their baby. According to reports, one of the intruders stood by his baby daughter’s crib. The mother repeatedly pleaded with the intruders not to hurt the baby. Her pleas were ignored by one the intruders, said to be Mozambican, who instead tackled the father with a knife. Another allegedly told the father: “I’ll kill your baby.” While the father was being attacked, he moved closer towards his loaded ACP Colt, which was under his pillow. With one arm, he defended himself against the knife-wielding intruder, and shot at the intruders. Two died on the scene, and one was wounded. EFCC arraigns three NGO workers for stealing N4.5m from MTN Foundation

Primary school student crushed to death by a tipper driver on her way back from school in Anambra

A primary school student was crushed to death in Igbariam, Anambra state, this afternoon. The girl, a student of St. Timothy Primary School Mary Ville Ukwulu in Dunukofia LGA, was on her way home from school when she was hit along the express road close to Anambra State University Igbariam. (St. Timothy Primary School is situated inside Anambra State University, Igbariam campus). An eyewitness told LIB that the girl died instantly after being knocked down by a reckless tipper driver. ISIS thugs call on supporters to launch attacks at the World Cup in Russia

  ISIS thugs have issued another threat, ordering their supporters to launch attacks at the 2018 World Cup , which kicks off on June 14 in Moscow, Russia . The terror group made the chilling threat in a new poster released by a French ISIS-linked group, according to SITE Intelligence, which monitors terror activity. They wrote in French on the poster translated as 'Kill them all'. Back in April, ISIS also released a poster which warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that he will 'pay the price for killing Muslims'. They wrote: 'Russia 2018. Putin you disbeliever. You will pay the price for killing Muslims.' While in March, ISIS supporters targeted Barcelona and Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi in a poster showing him kneeling next to a jihadist. Scores killed in fatal auto crash along Gusau-Zaria road

Seven people were killed on Friday after a fatal auto crash involving two Toyota Hiace buses along Gusau - Zaria road. The Public Relations Officer of Federal Road Safety Corps in Zamfara state, Mr Nasir Ahmad who confirmed the news to Daily Trust, blamed the accident on over speeding and dangerous overtaking. "In all the persengers involved were 28, 7 have died and 21 were injured. Among the dead were six adults and one child and those who were injured are responding to treatment at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital," he added. Ahmad warned the drivers especially those using commercial vehicles to obtained speed limiting devices which are available in the market adding that this would go along way in safeguarding lives and property.
