Amaechi arrested in Germany over Boko Haram links

             A Nigerian man suspected of being a member of Boko Haram and killing people in Nigeria during attacks on schools and a village has been arrested in Germany, the federal prosecutor said on Friday. . According to Reuters, the 27-year-old man, named as Amaechi Fred O., was detained on Wednesday in Bavaria and a day later a judge issued an arrest warrant and ordered that he be remanded in custody, the chief federal prosecutor said in a statement. . “He is strongly suspected of being a member of the foreign terrorist organisation Boko Haram,” the statement said. It said Amaechi Fred O. was believed to have joined Boko Haram in 2013 and had admitted to actively taking part in four attacks against Nigerian civilians during his one-year membership of the group. . Police arrest banker and his syndicate who use stolen SIM cards to steal millions from customers’ account (photo)

The operatives of the  Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad  (FSARS) have arrested a staff member of a new generation bank, Christian Amechi, for allegedly conniving with fraudsters to steal millions of naira from customers account using a string of impersonators. The Nation reports that Amechi, who until his arrest, was serving at the ATM customers service unit of the bank in  Victoria Island  Lagos, was arrested last week Wednesday alongside five other members of the syndicate namely Oyozoje Joseph, 30, Nelson Matthew Eugari, Henry Omogbemi, 31, and Ene Mona Gabriel. Together, the gang had allegedly removed over N20 million from accounts belonging to different customers. Troops eradicate remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Forest

Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE involved in Operation DEEP PUNCH II have continued to deal decisively with remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hibernating in Sambisa forest and other parts of Northern Borno State with tremendous successes. On Friday 26th January 2018 afternoon, the troops with effective support from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), had contact with the terrorists while advancing into Sambisa forest. During the encounter and further exploitation, the troops destroyed Boko Haram terrorists equipment, make-shift accommodation around Camp Zairo, Improvised Explosives Device (IEDs), Booby traps, other delaying obstacles and devices.                     This was the girl who was found dead in her restaurant in Kololi recently. She was rape to death and her legs and hands tied.The police pro has confirmed the incidence but no arrest have been made yet,investigations are still ongoing. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY, CRIMINAL CONSIPIRACY, CULPABLE HOMICIDE AND UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIRE ARMS SUSPECTS

Following an incident reported at Toro Police Station, that on 28/12/2017 at about 2340hrs unknown gunmen stormed the residence of one Sulaiman Yunusa 40yrs ‘m’ of Magama Gumau village, Toro LGA ,Bauchi State, with an intent to rob in the process they stabbed and shot him, as a result he sustained serious injuries where  he was rushed to General Hospital Toro and later referred to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi but died on 30/12/2017 while receiving treatment. In our effort to checkmate cases of fraud at ATM points in the state, on 14/01/2018 at about 2330hrs operatives from State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) of the command arrested one Abdullahi Buhari 27yrs ‘m’ of Zoo Road, Kano, at Union Bank ATM point while attempting to defraud one Dauda Habila 36yrs ‘m’ of Yelwan  Makaranta, Bauchi, under the pretense of assisting him. The suspect and his accomplice one Umar now at large specialized in tricking bank customers while trying to withdraw money from ATM by pretending to be assisting them on how to make the withdrawal effectively, in the process they will then swap the customer’s ATM card with another one of the same bank and also memorize his PIN number, thereafter escape with his ATM card immediately to another ATM point and withdraw money from his account. Man kidnaps elder sister, demands N10m ransom

The suspect Chukwudi akasike OPERATIVES of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested one Egbo Nwanaka for organising the abduction of her elder sister, Ada Nwanaka. Egbo was said to have connived with a friend to abduct her sister, who operates a supermarket in Ahoada. The suspect, who was one of those paraded at the State Police Command in Port Harcourt, was expecting one of his relatives to pay ransom for the release of her elder sister. Though the police said they did not immediately arrest Egbo, they were able to link the abduction of Ada Nwanaka, who is in her early 30s, to his younger brother after series of investigation.                         Nomalcy was interrupted in Kapkwen area, Bomet county, Kenya after a man was apprehended got having engaged in ‘sexual intercourse’ with two hens, leading to their death. According to reports, 33-year-old Alfred Kipkemoi Mutai alias Chesoni stole the two hens belonging to his neighbour on Saturday evening, January 20. He is then reported to have engaged in the unnatural act all through the night and was nabbed in the morning sneaking out with the dead hens. Upon being pressed on where he was taking the chicken, Chesoni confessed to having committed the act. He was then beaten up by the villagers who demanded he compensates the owner of the birds. Kidnap victim recounts ordeal, thanks DSS, army.

Mrs Adeola Dawodu, a 46-year-old woman, has expressed gratitude to the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army for rescuing her from kidnappers. Dawodu, a mother of four and wife to a Shell worker, was kidnapped on Jan. 20 and held captive for six days before her rescue on Thursday. The victim told the  News Agency of Nigeria  in Port Harcourt on Friday that she was kidnapped alongside her 20-year-old and three-year-old daughters in front of her estate.                                                      Gunmen suspected to be sea pirates on Tuesday, attacked Ogbia Marine Police division in Bayelsa State and shot dead two officers on duty. It was gathered that the gunmen made away with  the slain officers'riffles and two 200 horse power engines belonging to Ogbia local government. EFCC seize 5 houses from UBEC contractor that diverted N8billion meant for the purchase of books and Lab equipment in Unity schools

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has seized five houses from a contractor Prof. Adenekan Iyiola Adesanya for allegedly diverting about N8billion out of over N20billion spent by the Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC for the supply of textbooks, science and technical equipment to schools. The N8 billion was meant for the purchase of science, technical and laboratory equipment to 104 Unity Schools, the Nation reports. Prifessor Adesanya who is also the Managing Director of Macmillan, was alleged to have paid out N5billion to some individuals and used part of the balance to buy some properties. Photos; Rivers police recover body of 19-Year-Old girl allegedly strangled to death and dumped inside septic tank

                                   The  police in Rivers state yesterday January 24th, recovered the body of a 19 year old girl named Chiburuoma Bums, who was allegedly strangled and then dumped in a septic tank in Ibe street in the Elekahia area of the state. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, states that  men of the Elekahia Police Station acting on a tipoff, stormed the place and were able to arrest six persons in connection with the crime. The arrested persons are helping the police in its investigation on why and how the unfortunate incident happened. The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Mortuary for autopsy. The statement said the CP has ordered for the transfer of the matter to State CID, while efforts are on to arrest other suspects at large.

EFCC ARRESTS FORMER SGF BABACHIR LAWAL

  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it has arrested the former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. Mr. Lawal was arrested Wednesday, Channels Television reported. Mr. Lawal was recently sacked after he was indicted by a presidential panel that investigated misuse of funds meant for people displaced by Boko Haram. He had earlier been indicted by the Senate. His arrest is coming a day after former President Olusegun Obasanjo accused Mr. Buhari of condoning corruption where persons close to him are involved. $1.3b NNPC cash: I acted on Jonathan’s instructions, says Diezani

Former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke yesterday said she acted on the instructions of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in directing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to release $1.3billion to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). She said it was not within the power or discretion of any minister to question or disregard the written directive of a president.
