The  police in Rivers state yesterday January 24th, recovered the body of a 19 year old girl named Chiburuoma Bums, who was allegedly strangled and then dumped in a septic tank in Ibe street in the Elekahia area of the state.
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, states that  men of the Elekahia Police Station acting on a tipoff, stormed the place and were able to arrest six persons in connection with the crime. The arrested persons are helping the police in its investigation on why and how the unfortunate incident happened.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Mortuary for autopsy.
The statement said the CP has ordered for the transfer of the matter to State CID, while efforts are on to arrest other suspects at large.
