Armed bandits who raided communities in Zamfara recently are said to have made a demand of N30million as ransom to release Alhaji Ibrahim, the husband of late Ade Marafa, an elder sister to Kabiru Marafa, Senator representing Zamfara Central.

The bandits also set Ruwan Bore community in Gusau Local Government Area ablaze.  A resident of the community, who spoke with SaharaReporters, disclosed that the bandits called the family to demand the money before he could be released.

“They have called demanding N30million,” he said adding that the bandits came with the intention of kidnapping Marafa’s sister, but she resisted. When they arrived, they tried to kidnap her, but she resisted. So they killed her, and took away her husband.”

The bandits invaded the community in the early hours of Tuesday, killing 14 people and setting two communities Tungar Takoka and Tudun Wadar Maijatau ablaze. Residents of those areas have moved to Mada and neighbouring communities.

The Oyo state govt cancels curfew

  The Oyo State government has announced the cancellation of the 10pm to 4am curfew earlier imposed on the state as part of measures to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus.   A statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde,Taiwo Adisa, on Thursday September 3, says the state government decided to abolish the curfew after series of reviews.   According to the statement, the decision to abolish the curfew was premised on the need to reduce the burden on business owners in the state who have been adversely affected by the curfew.   The government noted that statistics show that COVID-19 cases were declining in the state. A Nigerian nanny has been found guilty of murdering an 8-month-old baby by force-feeding her half a pint of milk in less than 30 seconds. Oluremi Adeleye, 73, was trusted with the care of 8-month-old Enita Salubi in Maryland. But the nanny was captured on a nanny cam taking the teat off a bottle as she forced the child to guzzle down baby formula in October 2016.
