American comics artist, writer and co-creator of Marvel comic superheroes Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, Steve Ditko has passed away aged 90 after being found dead in his midtown Manhattan apartment.

According to New York Police Department spokesman George Tsourovakas, Mr. Ditko was found dead on June 29.

Marvel President Dan Buckley said in a statement "the Marvel family mourns the loss" of Mr Ditko. Steve transformed the industry and the Marvel Universe, and his legacy will never be forgotten.

He added: "Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and fans during this sad time.”
Ditko was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, in 1927. After graduating from high school in 1945, Mr. Ditko joined the Army and was stationed in Germany, where he drew cartoons for a service newspaper.
He later worked in comics in the 1950s in New York, before eventually landing a drawing job with Marvel forerunner Atlas Comics.
In the 1960s Stephen Ditko, along with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were behind the Marvel Comics’ rebirth, as well as Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. Mr. Ditko also created many of their enemies, including the Green Goblin, Baron Mordo, the Sandman, the Dread Dormammu, the Vulture and the Lizard.

Special Forces unleashed on Boko Haram

                                  The Nigerian Army on Thursday said Special Forces Troops have been unleashed on Boko Haram Terrorists in series of clearance operations in Borno state leading to the killings of hundreds of the insurgents and the confiscation of their weapons. The troops made up of Nigerian Army Special Forces, the Nigerian Navy Special Forces as well as the Nigerian Air Force Special Forces, however, lost an officer and a soldier during the clearance operations. According to The Nigerian Army Spokesman, Brig. Gen Sani Usman, the operations which commenced December 28 last year ensure that several towns and villages were cleared of the remnants of the insurgents. Woman robbed of her baby and thrown into septic tank is rescued after three days

A woman has been rescued from a septic tank three days after a man who stole her baby from her threw her in there.   The nursing mother named Mrs Chizoba Eke was pulled out alive but injured from the septic tank of an uncompleted building located at Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.   Her attacker, simply identified as Chinedu was apprehended when he was trying to traffic her six months old baby through Omerelu, Rivers border with Imo State.   Mrs Eke, the nursing mother was kidnapped from her home with her baby on August 17, 2020, and forced into the septic tank after severe assault by her abductor.   The husband of the victim, Mr Eke also alleged that Chinedu had attempted to rape his wife when she was pregnant with the newborn.   Mr Eke said, “I was invited by the Police to come identify our baby, having lodged a complaint when both my wife and baby got missing.
