Teenage girl killed seconds after taking off seatbelt to take a selfie

Teenage girl killed seconds after taking off seatbelt to take a selfie
A teenager died in an accident seconds after she took off her seatbelt to take a selfie. As a result, her grieving parents are launching a campaign to convince people to keep their belts on at all times.

Kailee Mills, 16, was with three friends in a car near her home in Texas, heading out to a  Halloween party last October, when the car crashed and rolled over.

The other three teenagers, who had their seatbelts on, survived. But Kailee, a "happy, bubbly and outgoing" girl, who was in the back seat of the car, didn't make it.
"We know if she had her seatbelt on, she'd still be here," her father, David said.

Her parents say although she normally followed the law in wearing her belt, she unfastened it to take a selfie with her friend in Spring, near Houston, Texas.
Wendy Mills, Kailee's mother, said: "All I kept saying was, 'It's not real, it's not real’."
"She had a laugh that was unique and the laugh alone made you smile, and she loved to make people smile," Ms Mills told the Fox 26 news station.
Now the couple have launched the Kailee Mills Foundation, which works to provide stickers for car windows and motorbike helmets across the region to remind drivers and passengers to buckle up. They are also joining the Texas Department of Transportation for an awareness drive, using the slogan "Click it or ticket".

"We just hope no one else has to deal with this," Mr Mills told Eyewitness News on ABC13.
"It doesn't matter if you're going a mile or 100 miles. Everyone always questions 'Why? Why did this happen?' And we're never going to know the answer to that but we know we can do something positive, and I think that's what she would want us to do."
Kailee has been described as a fun, lively teenager of whom any parent would be proud. She was an honor student with a 4.3 GPA, enjoyed cheerleading and playing volleyball.

Iranian woman wears fake beard disguise to sneak into a soccer match because Iranian females are forbidden from watching soccer in stadiums

A group of Iranian women have defied the laws of their land by wearing fake beards and dressing as men in order to watch a soccer match from inside the Azadi Stadium in Tehran. In Iran, women are not officially banned from attending games, but they are usually refused entry. In March, 35 women were detained for trying to attend a game at Azadi Stadium. However, a group of fearless Iranian women are pushing back by dressing as men to gain entrance. A video of an Iranian female soccer fan has gone viral after she disguised herself as a man to enter a Tehran soccer stadium last Friday. The woman and her friends wore fake beards and wigs to see Persepolis play Sepidrood at Azadi Stadium. One of the women told the BBC that security did not figure out they were wearing disguises, but people in the stands di...

Chagala: Travails of Nigerian girls inside Egypt’s slave markets (1)

Chagala - Migrants flocking into Egypt for domestic work. How much is a human worth? With just $2,000, an underage girl is sold as a slave in Egypt where human traffickers are making fortunes smuggling women for forced cheap labour and domestic servitude. Wale Ajetunmobi reports the travails of Nigerian girls trapped in slavery in Egypt. About 200 metres from the cenotaph that welcomes visitors to Nasr City, a lively suburb in Cairo governorate, Egypt, a row of constricted streets laden with grocery stores and boutiques shoulder one another. The narrow but untarred streets open into El Ashiru, a slummy neighbourhood, which offers shelter to foreigners from different countries. A great number of Egyptians, who are artisans and food vendors, live in the neighbourhood. El Ashiru is also home to a sizeable number of undocumented immigrants, mostly Nigerians, Ethiopians, Somalis, Senegalese, Kenyans and Sudanese. Being the commercial hub of Nasr City, El Ashiru bo...
