Grand Rapids Drive forward, Zeke Upshaw died on Monday morning after he collapsed during the team's G League game on Saturday against the Long Island Nets at DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was 26.  

The Drive provided a statement from Jewel Upshaw, the Chicago native's mother saying  "After continued efforts from the medical team at Spectrum Health, Zeke made his transition at 11:16 a.m. To family, friends, teammates, coaches, fans and confidants, thank you for your prayers and support during this most difficult time."

It was reported that Upshaw went into cardiac arrest on Saturday during the game. A cause of death was not immediately released.

Jajere district head in Yobe abducted by heavily armed men

                      The Police Command in Yobe has confirmed the abduction of Alhaji Isa Mai-Buba, the District Head of Jajere in Fune Local Government Area of the state. The Command’s Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, stated this in a statement released in Damaturu on Sunday. He said Mai-Buba was abducted at his residence in Jajere on Saturday, Aug 15. “At about 22:05 hours on Saturday, gunmen attacked the house of the district head with heavy fire arms and disappeared with him into the thin air. “Search parties were later on deployed, but up until now, no positive response of his whereabouts,” Abdulkarim said. Nigeria, Niger sign anti human trafficking pact

NAPTIP The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and its Niger Republic counterpart have signed a pact to eliminate the menace of human trafficking in both countries. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NAPTIP signed the agreement with Nigerien Agency Against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (ANLTP/TIM) at a dinner event on Thursday in Abuja. In a communique signed by heads of both agencies, Nigeria and Niger agreed to work together to stamp out the evil of human trafficking from both countries. Ms Julie Okah-Donli, Director General of NAPTIP, signed on behalf of Nigeria, while her Nigerien counterpart, Madame Goge Maimouna Gazbo, signed for her country.
