President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the families of students reportedly abducted from the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, that no effort will be spared to bring succour to them.

According to the President, “when I received the devastating news of the attack on the school and the fact that the local authorities could not account for all the students, I immediately dispatched a high-level delegation on a fact-finding visit to the town. I also instructed the security agencies to deploy in full and not spare any effort to ensure that all the girls are returned safely, and the attackers arrested and made to face justice".

He continued to say, “the entire country stands as one with the girls’ families, the government and the people of Yobe State. This is a national disaster. We are sorry that this could have happened and share your pain. We pray that our gallant armed forces will locate and safely return your missing family members. Our government is sending more troops and surveillance aircraft to keep an eye on all movements in the entire territory on a 24-hour basis, in the hope that all the missing girls will be found.”

Scores escape death as truck rams into vehicles in Abuja

Many people escaped death on Tuesday, September 8, in Kubwa, Abuja, when a tipper truck rammed into several vehicles. The crash which occurred at Central market in Kubwa, at about 11 am, left many vehicles damaged. According to one of the survivors, Ngozichukwu, the truck suffered brake failure. and rammed into the vehicles with occupants. "This tipper failed break and was hitting many cars..... I thought more than 20persons have lost their lives already, people were crying shouting JESUS JESUS but God was just too much, too kind, too merciful because there was no serious injury and no life was lost.," she narrated. Plane crash kills five people in Kenya

Five people have died after a small plane carrying them from Kenya’s Maasai Mara nature reserve crashed in the west of the country. According to Edward Mwamburi, police chief for the Rift Valley region, “there were five occupants in the plane and they did not survive”. He said the Cessna plane was heading from the Maasai Mara to Lodwar, near Lake Turkana and emergency services have been sent to the scene. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2014, some 130,000 planes land and take off from Kenya each year, and the country has 35 operating airlines.
