'The Dapchi school attack is getting every attention it deserves' - President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the families of students reportedly abducted from the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, that no effort will be spared to bring succour to them.

According to the President, “when I received the devastating news of the attack on the school and the fact that the local authorities could not account for all the students, I immediately dispatched a high-level delegation on a fact-finding visit to the town. I also instructed the security agencies to deploy in full and not spare any effort to ensure that all the girls are returned safely, and the attackers arrested and made to face justice".

He continued to say, “the entire country stands as one with the girls’ families, the government and the people of Yobe State. This is a national disaster. We are sorry that this could have happened and share your pain. We pray that our gallant armed forces will locate and safely return your missing family members. Our government is sending more troops and surveillance aircraft to keep an eye on all movements in the entire territory on a 24-hour basis, in the hope that all the missing girls will be found.”

Nigerian footballer arrested with drugs in India

A Nigerian national living with an expired visa has been nabbed with crystal meth from northeast Delhi during a midnight raid. On further inspection, the teams also recovered cocaine from the accused, Ikenna's house. He was arrested with 10 grams of crystal meth brought from Mumbai. He was subsequently taken to his house in Kardampuri in Jyoti Nagar where 18 grams of cocaine was also recovered. DCP (northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur said on Sunday, April 14, that they were tipped off about Ikenna, who has been residing in India without a visa since 2013 and had entered the country initially as a professional football player. 3 people die, 8 injured during a birthday party clash in Bauchi State

                        The Bauchi State police command have confirmed that three persons were killed and eight others injured in a clash that erupted at a birthday party on Sunday night in Lushi Ward in Bauchi. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kamal Abubakar, confirmed the incident saying that 75 suspects had been arrested in connection with the clash. He said that two houses were burnt during the incident and that the situation has been brought under control. He also said that investigation was going on to get to the root of the crisis.
