Air Force joins battle against herdsmen

  • The Air Force will join the military operations against killer-herdsmen and militia in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa, Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar said yesterday.

He said the intervention of the NAF would be through the establishment of Forward Operational Base (FOB) in Taraba state and Quick Response Wing along Benue and Nasarawa axis.
A statement signed by Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, said the Air Chief said the developments were part of an elaborate efforts to address the security challenges.
The statement reads: “Air Marshal Abubakar also spoke on the current and likely threats as well as contingencies from the perspective of air operations. Some of the initiatives included but are not limited to the establishment of new commands and some units, improvement in human capacity development, improved aircraft serviceability and logistics support as well as enhanced personnel welfare.”

The Oyo state govt cancels curfew

  The Oyo State government has announced the cancellation of the 10pm to 4am curfew earlier imposed on the state as part of measures to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus.   A statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde,Taiwo Adisa, on Thursday September 3, says the state government decided to abolish the curfew after series of reviews.   According to the statement, the decision to abolish the curfew was premised on the need to reduce the burden on business owners in the state who have been adversely affected by the curfew.   The government noted that statistics show that COVID-19 cases were declining in the state. Man Bags One Year Imprisonment Over Land Scam

                                               Justice M. L. Owolabi of the Oyo State High Court, sitting in Iyagunku, today, December 7, 2018 convicted and sentenced one Gafar Saka to one year imprisonment for obtaining money under false pretence contrary to Section 419 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 38, Laws of the Oyo State 2000. The sentence takes effect from the day of his arrest. Gafar who was re-arraigned today by the Ibadan office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Co mmission, EFCC, on a one count amended charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretence pleaded guilty and entered into a plea bargain.
