Notorious Boko Haram terrorist captured in Bauchi, confesses to killing over 150 people in Baga

The Bauchi State Police Command said it arrested of a top Boko Haram fighter, Muhammad Adamu Nafiu, who confessed to having killed over 150 people in Baga Borno State. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the state commissioner of police, Garba Umar, said that the 25-year-old suspect is a notorious terrorist, who relocated to Tama village in Toro Local Government Area in order to evade arrest after the sect was dislodged by troops at Sambisa Forest.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect was among those declared by the Nigerian Army on Serial Number 176 on its wanted list," said the police commissioner.

"He has voluntarily confessed to have killed over 150 people in Baga LGA of Borno State alone. Case under investigation after which suspect would be handed over to the appropriate authority for discreet investigation."

Senegal seeks to move huge ammonium nitrate stock from Dakar port

Dakar Senegalese officials say they have asked for 2,700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate - the chemical which caused a huge explosion in Beirut - to be removed from Dakar. The amount in Dakar's port, which is near residential areas, is nearly as much as was in the Lebanese capital. Officials say the chemical is part of a 3,050-tonne consignment destined for neighbouring Mali. Port officials say 350 tonnes has already been transported there. The government says the owner of the consignment has asked to store the chemical in a warehouse at Diamniadio, about 30km (20 miles) from Dakar. But the ministry of environment has not yet approved the request, saying the site has not met all the required conditions, including carrying out an environmental and social impact study.
