The Nigerian Air Force in collaboration with other security agencies today, carried out security sweeping of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) ahead of the official re-opening. It will be recalled that the Airport was closed for air operations on 8 March 2017 to allow repair works on the dilapidated runway to be carried out. A Technical Intelligence Team from the Directorate of Air Intelligence, Nigerian Air Force, K-9 Unit from Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army as well as experts from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, Nigeria Police Force were busy combing the terminal buildings, apron and runway for possible explosive or incendiary devices. This is to ensure that the Airport is safe for air passengers and other airport users after 6 weeks of closure.
