  Police in Zaria city arrested Bilyaminu Saidu 33years, a gun runner, bandit & logistics supplier. He was arrested with 4 AK-47 rifles, 344 rounds of live ammunition & one motorcycle. Bilyaminu is an indigene of Shuwaki village in Bakori LGA of Katsina state.

London Court orders release of $200m guarantee to Nigeria from P&ID

The Central Bank of Nigeria says the development led to a rise in the nation’s foreign reserves.   A London court has ordered the release of the $200 million guarantee placed as security by the Nigerian government in relation to the Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) $10 billion arbitral claim. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) made this known in a series of tweets on Tuesday. The bank said the development led to a rise in the nation’s foreign reserves. Two lovers dismembered man to use his fingerprints to steal $77,120

  Prosecutors in Portugal have alleged two lesbian lovers dismembered a man so they could use his fingerprints to access his mobile phone and steal $77,120 from his bank account.   The lovers, one a security worker known as Maria Malveiro, 19, and 23-year-old nurse Mariana Fonseca (both pictured below) are accused of throwing Diogo Goncalves' torso into the sea, but keeping hold of his head.     According to prosecutors in Portugal preparing to put the pair on trial this October, Malveiro is said to have admitted to an Algarve judge who questioned her after the crime they were inspired by US police series Dexter.   Diogo (pictured below) was strangled to death on March 18 and the woman allegedly threw his torso into the sea from cliffs in the Algarve town of Sagres     Four days later they used a print from a finger they had cut off his right hand to access his mobile and transfer the cash, then waited another 24 hours to dump the rest of his body.   The indictment says they spent

NCDC - Nigeria may experience COVID-19 virus explosion in low testing states

  Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has warned that Nigeria may experience an explosion in the number of COVID-19.   Speaking in a TV interview in Abuja, Ihekweazu said a second wave of the virus is inevitable in Nigeria. He urged all states in Nigeria to increase the number of testing as some people might be positive and still asymptomatic.   A few days ago, the NCDC listed nine states that have tested the least number of samples for COVID-19. Among the states are Taraba, Adamawa, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Kebbi, Zamfara, Jigawa and Yobe   Ihekweazu in the interview said “The data is what it is. Woman pours hot water on 8-year-old househelp

  An Anambra couple have been called out for maltreating their 8-year-old househelp.   The couple identified as Mrs Ogochukwu Anichukwu and Mr. Emmanuel Anichukwu were accused of flogging the little girl mercilessly and starving her repeatedly. Man commits suicide after killing wife

  Tragedy struck in Bashua community, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State as a man allegedly killed his wife and then committed suicide over her alleged infidelity. According to Martmercy Busaosowo, the man, said to hail from neighbouring Akwa Ibom State murdered his wife in the early hours of Monday, September 28, after he heard that she had been sleeping around with other men.   His body was later found dangling from a tree in the bush by members of the community. The names of the couple are yet to be disclosed.  

Former bank staff bags 98yrs for stealing bank’s N49m and $368,000

  A former staff of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Oreoluwa Adesakin, has been sentenced to 98 years in prison by Justice Muniru Olagunju of Oyo High Court for fraud.   A statement released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, said Adesakin was found to have committed financial fraud against her employers to the tune of N49,320,652.32 and an additional $368,203.00 belonging to the bank, which she converted to personal use.   She was prosecuted by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 14-count charges bordering on stealing, forgery, and fraudulent accounting.   One of the charges read “That you Oreoluwa Adesakin sometime between the months of May 2013 and November 2013, at Ibadan within the Ibadan Judicial Division, whilst being a staff of First Bank PLC stole the sum of N25,974,116.13 from First Bank PLC MoneyGram Payment Naira Account, the property of First bank PLC.”   She pleaded not guilty to all the charges, which necess

Family member who killed his parents and siblings hands self over to police

  A 28-year-old man who allegedly murdered his parents, wife and sister-in-law in Kisoro district, western Uganda handed himself to the police on Sunday, September 27.   The suspect Gerald Ndikumukiza, a resident of Kageyo village, Busengo parish Nyarubuye sub-county, last Thursday, reportedly hacked to death his 26-year-old wife Maserina Mujawimana, his father Deogratious Sebitama aged 80, his 75-year-old mother Bonconsira Nyiraguhirwa before turning the machete on a 20-year-old Joan Nyiramahoro, his sister-in-law.   After committing the heinous act, Ndikumukiza went into hiding, but left a letter at the scene of crime with the words “Icyo mwashakaga mwakibonye” a Kifumbira statement meaning “what you wanted you have seen it".   The suspect, had a day before, come from Masaka district where he worked as a casual labourer.   The Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate, who confirmed the development on Tuesday, September 29, said that the suspect handed himself in to Kisoro Ce
