Tragedy as four die in car accident

 

Four dead, others injured in Anambra auto crash

Four persons died in an auto crash on Monday, September 28, in Obosi, Idemmili North Council Area of Anambra State while others susstained varying degrees of injury.

 

The crash which occurred after Obosi Police Station, off Onitsha-Owerri road, involved a tipper truck with registration number, JIT 168 XG, a commercial bus belonging to Izuchukwu Motors, with registration number, ABN 430 YN, and a black Toyota Spider, with registration number, FST 122 DQ.

 

The dead were deposited at a nearby mortuary while the injured were taken to Unity Hospital, Obosi for medical attention.

 

Narrating his account, the driver of the ill-fated black Toyota Spider, who pleaded anonymity, thanked God for saving his life and his fellow occupants, and to passersby, Police and FRSC officials, for joining in rescue operation.

 

Mr. Obiora Chinonso, a trader at Mgbuka Obosi, who joined in rescue operation, attributed the incident to over speeding and break failure.

 

Meanwhile, men of the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corp helped in rescue operation and clearing of road for free flow of traffic.

Police arrest seven people including a 34-year-old woman in connection with the murder of BBNaija star, Khafi's brother

US sanctions 24 Chinese companies for helping China build structures in South China Sea

The United States has imposed sanctions on 24 Chinese companies for helping the Chinese government build structures in the South China Sea, an action that will surely increase tension between the US and China, who already have a damaged relationship.   The sanction, is the first action of its kind by the US against China over the disputed South China Sea.   The US Commerce Department, in a statement said the 24 Chinese state-owned companies especially the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), played a "role in helping the Chinese military construct and militarize the internationally condemned artificial islands in the South China Sea" and "must be held responsible."   The companies will be added to the Commerce Department's Entity List, according to the statement.  American firms will be restricted from selling US goods and technology to them without a special license.   The State Department also announced  visa restrictions on Chinese individua...
