Police nab ‘Boboski,’ Rivers’ most wanted criminal gang leader

Suspected kidnap kingpin and armed robber, Honest Diigbara, alias Boboski, after his arrest on parade at Rivers Police Command headquarters.

Residents of some parts of Ogoniland jubilated on Saturday morning as news filtered in that officers of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested Honest Diigbara, aka Boboski, a notorious leader of a kidnap and armed robbery gang.

Boboski was alleged to be behind different atrocities in the areas for many years.

The gang leader had been on the police watchlist for years and had bounty of N30 million placed on his head by Governor Nyesom Wike.

He was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, in a sting by the police, with assistance of a local security outfit.

He was arrested along with his second in Command. He also sustained injuries during a  gun duel with law enforcement officers.

“He was arrested through credible information at  Korokoro Community in Tai  Local Government Area , where he was hibernating with his gang of killers.

“On sighting the Police they engaged us and in a returned fire, his driver was fatally wounded, while he was arrested alive,” Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan announced in a press statement he signed.

Normalcy restored after militants attack Akwa Ibom community – Police

                               The Police Command in Akwa Ibom says it has restored peace to Iwukem community in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the state attacked by suspected militants on Sunday. The spokesman for the command, MacDon Achebe, told journalists in Uyo on Tuesday that the police had restored normalcy in the area. Mr Achebe said the police were on top of the situation although he did not confirm the casualty figure. “Police were aware of the attack; we are on top of it and normalcy has been restored to the community,” he said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that suspected militants attacked the community about 10p.m. on Sunday, shot sporadically and set some houses ablaze. Although the cause of the attack is unknown, the state government, in a move to bring to an end killings and kidnappings, banned cult activities across the state.

136 new cases of Coronavirus recorded in Nigeria

  136 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in Nigeria on Saturday September 26, as confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).    A breakdown of the new cases across states is as follows; Lagos-41, Ogun-27, Rivers-19, Abia-10, Oyo-6, Plateau-6, Bauchi-5, Ondo-5, Ekiti-4, Kaduna-4, Edo-3, Ebonyi-2, Bayelsa-1, Delta-1, Osun-1, Yobe-1.    There are now 58,198 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,106 deaths have been recorded. 49,722 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.
