Police officers in Anambra state have arrested a 47-year-old man identified as Emeka Ezimadu, for allegedly killing two of his own children, his 85-year-old mother, and inflicting injuries on three other children at Okpuneze Uruagu in Nnewi North local government area of State on Thursday, September 17.

 

The state police command spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the suspect allegedly went berserk, attacked, and killed two of his biological children, 9-year-old Ifechukwu Ezimadu, 2-year-old Ezimadu, and his 85-year-old mother, Agnes Ezimadu, with a cutlass while they were sleeping.

 

Haruna said the suspect also used the cutlass to injure three other children namely Nonso Ezimadu 12, Chinaemerem Ezimadu 11, and Ngozi Ezimadu 8.

“Meanwhile, police detectives visited the Scene and rushed victims to the Akwudo hospital for medical attention where the two children and the aged mother were certified dead by a medical doctor while the three other children are receiving treatment'' he said

 

The spokesperson added that the corpses have been deposited at Akwudo hospital morgue for autopsy and that the case has been transferred to State CID Awka for discreet investigation.

136 new cases of Coronavirus recorded in Nigeria

  136 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in Nigeria on Saturday September 26, as confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).    A breakdown of the new cases across states is as follows; Lagos-41, Ogun-27, Rivers-19, Abia-10, Oyo-6, Plateau-6, Bauchi-5, Ondo-5, Ekiti-4, Kaduna-4, Edo-3, Ebonyi-2, Bayelsa-1, Delta-1, Osun-1, Yobe-1.    There are now 58,198 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,106 deaths have been recorded. 49,722 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.
