192,000 Americans killed by COVID-19, to hit 200,000 in 7 days

COVID-19 pandemic has now killed 192,012 Americans, with fresh 984 deaths by Friday night,
according to the tracking by worldometers.info.

The number of confirmed infections has also hit 6,385,367.

Over 50,000 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, as the Trump administration appeared to be clueless in stemming the virus.

With the daily death rate of about 1,100, America’s fatality number will reach over 200,000 in another 7 days.

The numbers make America unassailably the grim centre of the world, leading in both cases and deaths.

Brazil is second in both virus cases and deaths toll.

The South American country has recorded 4,091,801 cases and 125,584 deaths.

On Friday, it posted comparative figures to America’s, with 855 deaths and over 45,500 new cases.

India is playing catch-up with Brazil,as the two countries are now almost neck and neck in confirmed virus cases.

After reporting another world record 87,115 new cases, India’s caseload jumped to 4,020,239.

The country’s death toll has also soared to 69,635.

There were 1,066 deaths announced by the health authorities on Friday.

Scores escape death as truck rams into vehicles in Abuja

Many people escaped death on Tuesday, September 8, in Kubwa, Abuja, when a tipper truck rammed into several vehicles. The crash which occurred at Central market in Kubwa, at about 11 am, left many vehicles damaged. According to one of the survivors, Ngozichukwu, the truck suffered brake failure. and rammed into the vehicles with occupants. "This tipper failed break and was hitting many cars..... I thought more than 20persons have lost their lives already, people were crying shouting JESUS JESUS but God was just too much, too kind, too merciful because there was no serious injury and no life was lost.," she narrated. Presidential Task Force warns against hasty reopening of schools

Boss The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 in Nigeria has warned states against rushing to reopen schools saying such action have escalated COVID-19 management situation in some other countries. Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha, speaking on Monday August 31 in Abuja said it would be in the best interest of Nigeria to stick to it's slow phased easing of lockdown rules because it was effective. “It is in the above context that the PTF appreciates the on-going calls for re-opening of the education sector and indeed some sub-nationals are already making preparations for such.'
