Three persons die in boat mishap in Adamawa state

Three persons identified as Melody M, Isaac G., and James S., have died in a boat mishap that occurred in Adamawa state.

 

Sahara Reporters reports that the victims, two males, and one female, reportedly drowned while on their way to a burial ceremony in the Lamurde Local Government Area of the state, after the boat capsized.

 

Confirming the incident, the chairman of Lamurde Local Government Area, Burto Williams, described it as an unfortunate tragedy.

"The accident is a very unfortunate tragedy that requires government to come to the aid of the people of the area who are constantly being ravaged by cascading water.  

Lamurde LG is making efforts to provide medical treatment for the survivors while the council will also foot the bill of the burial arrangements of the three deceased," Burto said

Twitter user traumatized after her neighbour's sister committed suicide this morning

                                             A Twitter user has narrated how her neighbour's sister committed suicide this morning. @yelecapri10 said the sister of the deceased came in to find her sister still sleeping. They then noticed a can containing a substance by her bedside so they assumed she must have ingested it. Customs intercepts contraband worth N157 million in Bauchi

                                    The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit (F.O.U.) Zone D, Bauchi, has seized contraband worth N156. 61 million in 2018. ‎The Controller F.O.U. Zone D, Peters Olugboyega, made the disclosure at a news conference in Bauchi on Thursday. According to him, this is an increase of N55 million compared to the seizures made in 2017. ‎ He noted that from January to December 2018, the Unit made seizures ranging from smuggled foreign rice, foreign soap and second-hand clothes. According to him, other seizures are spaghetti and hard drugs. Mr Olugboyega, a comptroller, said the seizures were made in spite of low economic activities caused by insurgency. ‎He said a recent seizure of a used Mercedes Benz truck with Reg. No. ABJ 250 XA was made on November 21 by officers of the Unit based on credible information.
