Nigerian Army declares `Brimah’ wanted over fund raising to feed troops

The Nigerian Army says it is working with Interpol to declare Dr. Perry Brimah, a Nigerian in Diaspora wanted over a fraudulent global fund raising to provide food for troops in the North East.
It said its attention was drawn to the “fraudulent and criminal’’ venture by Brimah, tagged “Global campaign to provide food for Nigerian soldiers fighting Boko Haram.’’

Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, the spokesman of the army in a statement on Wednesday, urged the general public to provide any information on the whereabouts of “this fraudster.’’
Usman further alleged that Brimah embarked on the venture “ostensibly to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, especially the international community to fund subversive activities and personal life style.’’

“We wish to state that the Nigerian soldiers deployed to the North East or elsewhere, neither lack logistics nor food as the fraudster wants unsuspecting members of the public to believe.

“The Nigerian army never faltered in providing necessary logistics to troops to the extent of providing extras, especially during festive periods,’’ Usman said.
He said the move by Brimah was nothing but a scam as there was nowhere in the world where troops were fed through donations by members of the public.

According to him, there has never been complaints of lack of food by soldiers talk less of starvation.
The army spokesman stressed that neither Brimah nor his agents represent the Nigerian army or its soldiers.
“Whoever believes and fall victim to this criminal act does so at his or her own risk,’’ he said.

Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire released from Police custody after pleading not guilty over alleged police altercation in Mykonos

  Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire has been released after pleading not guilty to charges following an alleged altercation with police while on holiday on the island of Mykonos.    The 27-year-old England international was released from police custody pending a hearing which will be heard on the island of Syros on Tuesday, August 25.    Maguire will be represented at the hearing by his legal team, meaning he is free to travel back to Manchester this weekend.     A Manchester United statement said: “Following the appearance in court today we note the adjournment of the case to allow the legal team to consider the case file.   “Harry has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Nigeria records 79 cases of Covid-19

79 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday September 13, as confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).    The agency gave a breakdown of the new cases across states in the country as follows; Lagos-30, Kaduna-17, Ogun-7, Anambra-5, Kano-4, Katsina-3, FCT-3, Akwa Ibom-3, Oyo-2, Rivers-2, Delta-1, Plateau-1, Ondo-1.    There are now 56,256 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1, 082 deaths has been recorded.  44,152 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.
