Nigerian Army declares `Brimah’ wanted over fund raising to feed troops

The Nigerian Army says it is working with Interpol to declare Dr. Perry Brimah, a Nigerian in Diaspora wanted over a fraudulent global fund raising to provide food for troops in the North East.
It said its attention was drawn to the “fraudulent and criminal’’ venture by Brimah, tagged “Global campaign to provide food for Nigerian soldiers fighting Boko Haram.’’

Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, the spokesman of the army in a statement on Wednesday, urged the general public to provide any information on the whereabouts of “this fraudster.’’
Usman further alleged that Brimah embarked on the venture “ostensibly to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, especially the international community to fund subversive activities and personal life style.’’

“We wish to state that the Nigerian soldiers deployed to the North East or elsewhere, neither lack logistics nor food as the fraudster wants unsuspecting members of the public to believe.

“The Nigerian army never faltered in providing necessary logistics to troops to the extent of providing extras, especially during festive periods,’’ Usman said.
He said the move by Brimah was nothing but a scam as there was nowhere in the world where troops were fed through donations by members of the public.

According to him, there has never been complaints of lack of food by soldiers talk less of starvation.
The army spokesman stressed that neither Brimah nor his agents represent the Nigerian army or its soldiers.
“Whoever believes and fall victim to this criminal act does so at his or her own risk,’’ he said.

EFCC releases list of five suspects over N1.8m Visa fraud

The suspects The Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday arraigned five suspected visa fraudsters before Justice Olubukola Banjoko on a seven-count charge, bordering on false pretence and obtaining by tricks to the tune of N1.8 million. The defendants are: Ifeyinwa Mbamalu, Christian Akor, Grace Oluseun Akinwunmi, Samuel Chinedu Iwuagwu and Adebola Saheed Adewale. They were accused to have connived to obtain sums of money from their victims in the guise of helping them to obtain Canadian visas. One of the charges reads: “That you, Christian Akor between October 13th and 18th 2018, in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly converted to your own use, the sum of N300, 000, being part of the sum of N1, 800,000, received by one Ifeyinwa Mbamalu, purportedly to procure a valid Canadian Visa and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 308, of the Penal code Act; and punishable under section 309...

Sister stabbed to death by brother during an argument

  A man has been arrested in Uganda after he allegedly stabbed his 20-year-old sister to death during an argument.   It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday, September 24, at Nakulaye Zone 5, a Kampala city suburb in Lubaga Municipality.   The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, who confirmed the incident, identified the suspect as Ashim Kyomuhendo, 28,.   Owoyesigyire said Kyomuhendo allegedly stabbed and killed his sister Aminah Namara, during an argument at around 4am, on Thursday morning. It is purported that Namara visited her brother a month ago and they have been staying together at his home.   "Our officers have conveyed the body of the deceased to the City Mortuary in Mulago for a postmortem as we continue with further investigations to ascertain the exact cause of the murder," Owoyesigyire said.   According to one of the eyewitnesses, Kyomuhendo picked a knife and stabbed his sister in the c...
