Nigerian Army ambushes bandits, kills three in Zamfara

The military operation tagged: “Operation Idan Raini” killed three bandits in Zamfara State on Friday, according to Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Clement Abiade.
Mr Abiade, a major, said in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau, the state capital that “the army troops encountered the bandits in the notorious Dansadau bush on Friday”.
He said many of the bandits had been overpowered by the soldiers and therefore escaped with gunshot wounds.

He said three motorcycles were recovered from the fleeing hoodlums, and that the troops had continued with their manhunt for them.

The army spokesman also disclosed that the troops supported by local vigilance groups had arrested a notorious cattle rustler, Usman Ikkuwa, at Teke village in Maru Local Government Area of the state.
He said Ikkuwa was part of Buba Banme’s gang who had terrorised many communities in the state and rustled many cows especially in Sabon-birni.

He said the gang terrorised the people until the leader, Buba Banme, was arrested in 2017 when he mentioned Ikkuwa as a member of the seven-man group, and was accordingly declared wanted by security personnel.
Mr Abiade said the army was working in synergy with other security agencies to rid the state of all criminal elements.

3 people die, 8 injured during a birthday party clash in Bauchi State

The Bauchi State police command have confirmed that three persons were killed and eight others injured in a clash that erupted at a birthday party on Sunday night in Lushi Ward in Bauchi. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kamal Abubakar, confirmed the incident saying that 75 suspects had been arrested in connection with the clash. He said that two houses were burnt during the incident and that the situation has been brought under control. He also said that investigation was going on to get to the root of the crisis. Boko Haram members attack community in Borno state; raze hospital and Telecoms mast

Suspected Boko Haram members have attacked Magumeri community in Borno State, destroying the only functional telecommunications mast, a hospital recently equipped by the Borno State Government and other facilities. According to reports, the insurgents invaded the community at about 4pm on Monday, August 17, shooting sporadically. The military airstrike engaged the sect members in a gun battle but it did not deter the sect members who destroyed anything in sight. A woman was reportedly killed in the crossfire while several other persons sustained injuries. Police kill notorious Port Harcourt kidnap kingpin – Official

The police on Thursday announced they killed a Port Harcourt kidnap kingpin who has been on their wanted list. The man, identified as Prosper David, was killed during a shoot-out between the police and his gang, according to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Jimoh Moshood. The statement did not mention where the shoot-out took place. It said the kidnap kingpin was killed by a police joint strike force set up by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to trace those responsible for the abduction of one Tina Bob-Manuel, a Port Harcourt-based businesswoman. Mrs. Bob-Manuel, 58, was abducted November last year at her shop at Nvuigwe, Woji in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state. The kidnappers, who disguised themselves with police uniforms and were armed with AK-47 rifles, later demanded N100 million ransom from the victim’s family.
