EFCC ARRAIGNS ESTATE AGENTS FOR N34 MILLION FRAUD


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office, today Thursday  March 1,   2018 arraigned two Estate Agents, Abdullahi Umar Balewa and Muawiya Aliyu alongside their company,  Supreme  System Consult Ltd on a four count charge of conspiracy, theft and issuance of dud cheque to the tune of N34 million before Justice Tukur of the Kaduna State High Court.
The complainant alleged that the suspects sometime in 2013 entered into an agreement with her to invest money into their business with an understanding that she will be paid back her principal sum and accrued profit after one year.
On this basis, she handed over her two houses located in Brick City Kubwa Phase 2 Abuja to be sold off by the suspects at N17 million each; and the proceeds be invested in the purported business. The complainant further stated that an MoU was written between her and the suspects that the principal sum and an accrued interest of N6 million will be paid back to her after one year. But to her dismay, the suspects became evasive hence the petition.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the four count charge. The prosecuting counsel, E.K. Garuba applied for a date for commencement of trial while he urged the court to remand the accused persons  in prison custody.
Justice Tukur adjourned the matter to the March 6, 2018 for hearing of bail application and ruled that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody.

Police arrest seven people including a 34-year-old woman in connection with the murder of BBNaija star, Khafi's brother

                                 Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder of BBNaija star, Khafi's brother.    Alexander Kareem, 20, was shot close to his family house in Shepherd’s Bush, West London on June 8. He was walking back home from a convenience store when he was shot in a case of mistaken identity.    After the shooting, a white Range Rover, which had been seen speeding away from the crime scene, was later found burnt out.   A post-mortem conducted on him showed he died from gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.   Five men, aged 18 to 24, a boy, 16, and a woman, 34, were arrested earlier today and are in custody.   Detective chief inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation for the Met's Specialist Crime Team, said the arrests were a "significant development."   "I believe this murder to have been ...
