Smoke alarm system for People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Install smoke alarms in every bedroom. They should also be outside each
sleeping area and on every level of the home. For added safety, interconnect
all the smoke alarms. If one sounds, they all sound. This gives people more
time to escape.

hard of hearing may not
be able to depend on the
traditional smoke alarm
to alert them to a fire.
SAFETY TIPS 
⚫ Smoke alarms and alert devices are available for
people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
⚪Strobe lights flash when the smoke alarm sounds.
The lights warn people of a possible fire.
⚫When people who are deaf are asleep, a pillow or
bed shaker can wake them so they can escape. The
shaker is activated by the sound of a smoke alarm.
⚪When people who are hard of hearing are asleep,
a loud, mixed, low-pitched sound alert device can
wake them. They may find a pillow or bed shaker
helpful. These devices are triggered by the sound of
the smoke alarm.
⚫Research the products and select the ones that best
meet your needs.

Earthquake with 3.3 magnitude hits Southern England

An earthquake measuring 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale has struck southern England.    According to the British Geological Survey (BGS) quake maps, the epicentre was in 3km northwest of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, and recorded at a depth of 10km. The tremor caused houses to shake as far away as London, Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, and High Wycombe.    Residents reported feeling the tremors at 9.45am in parts of London.   One person on the EMSC site wrote: "It felt horrible. The whole house was shaking as if something huge and very heavy hit the roof or my neighbours house (they're end of terrace). I never suspected we'd have it in here."   Another person wrote: "I felt it very clearly. The first wave shook the house a bit and then some little vibrations during 5 seconds.. but my wife, at home with me, did not feel anything.. Police arrest alleged mastermind of Benue massacre (photo)

Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team have arrested the alleged mastermind of the killing of over 73 residents of Benue State. 40 year old Alhaji Laggi, pictured above, was arrested along with three others, namely, Mallam Muminini Abdullahi, Muhammed Adamu and Ibrahim Sule. The police say Laggi coordinated the January 1st massacre in two communities in Benue state. Over 70 persons were killed and have since been given a mass burial. Laggi and his accomplies were arrested in Tunga town in Nasarawa state on February 16th and 19th
