COOKING SAFETY
Cooking brings family and friends together, provides
an outlet for creativity and can be relaxing. But did
you know that cooking fires are the number one
cause of home fires and home injuries? By following
a few safety tips you can prevent these fires.

⚫If you have a small (grease) cooking fire and decide to fight the fire... door closed.
⚪On the stovetop, smother the flames by sliding a lid over the pan and turning off the burner. Leave the pan covered until it is completely cooled.
⚫For an oven fire, turn off the heat and
Grab your Fire extinguisher especially the Co2 and kill the fire
⚪If you have any doubt about fighting a small fire…
⚫Just get out! When you leave, close the door behind you to help contain the fire.
⚪Call 767, 112 for Lagos resident only or the local emergency number from outside the home.
⚫Have a “kid-free zone” of at least 3 feet around the stove and areas where hot food or drink is prepared or carried.

IDP increased in Zamfara

Armed bandits attacks on Zamfara State have continued to increase the number of Internally Displaced Persons in Maradun Local Government area of the state. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that victims from different villages in the local government area are continuously moving to Maradun town. Five IDP camps have now been established while registration is on going at all the centers. Addressing journalists at one of centers, the councillor, Maradun ward, Sirajo Madugu, said communities from about 50 villages had been sacked by bandits. Mr Madugu said some communities were leaving their villages due to the attacks, while others for fear of imminent attack. He said ”we cannot ascertain the number of displaced persons for now because it is increasing by the day”. 1 dies, 13 others injured in Niger auto crash

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Suleja, Niger State has confirmed the death of one person in an accident on Monday. Olayinka Akande, FRSC Suleja Unit Commander, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the accident occurred due to break failure on the part of an articulated vehicle. He said eight vehicles were involved while 13 people were injured. NAN reports that the articulated vehicle was coming from the Maje-Dikko axis of the road into Suleja. The report from the FRSC said: “Fatal crash involving 8 vehicles and 14 persons (12 males adults and 2 females adults) at red cross area Suleja along Suleja-Minna road at about 15:03hrs. “One death and 13 injuries recorded. EFCC Arraigns Businessman Over N3.2m Scam The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today April 12, 2017 arraigned one Owen Njoku before Justice Sailu Saidu of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on one court charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of Three Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N3, 250, 000.00) only.
