Cooking brings family and friends together, provides
an outlet for creativity and can be relaxing. But did
you know that cooking fires are the number one
cause of home fires and home injuries? By following
a few safety tips you can prevent these fires.

⚫If you have a small (grease) cooking fire and decide to fight the fire... door closed.
⚪On the stovetop, smother the flames by sliding a lid over the pan and turning off the burner. Leave the pan covered until it is completely cooled.
⚫For an oven fire, turn off the heat and
Grab your Fire extinguisher especially the Co2 and kill the fire
⚪If you have any doubt about fighting a small fire…
⚫Just get out! When you leave, close the door behind you to help contain the fire.
⚪Call 767, 112 for Lagos resident only or the local emergency number from outside the home.
⚫Have a “kid-free zone” of at least 3 feet around the stove and areas where hot food or drink is prepared or carried.

A Somali regional minister has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in the town of Jowhar, middle Shabelle region. Abdifatah Hassan, a police official in Jowhar town, told Anadolu Agency over the phone that Hirshabelle State Agriculture Minister Abdukadir Abukar was shot dead minutes after the evening prayer on Monday, August 17. A Michigan couple has been charged with one of the most heinous murders that is being referred to as the "worst child death case" ever after their 4-year-old daughter died in a "scalding bath" in Michigan. Candice Diaz, 24, and Brad Fields, 28, were charged with murder, torture, and child abuse and both denied bail. Gabrielle died on New Year's Day after living a life filled with abuse. Doctors say she suffered multiple injuries, including severe burns on her limbs after she was in a bath with scalding hot water. A medical practitioner, who examined Gabrielle Barrett's body, described the alleged murder as the "worst child death case" in 27 years of his career, according to a court document. Manager of artiste who died in studio makes startling claims, accuses police of refusing to release the corpse to family

Adams Yemmy, the manager of one of the artistes who died in a studio in the Alagbado area of Lagos, on Saturday, September 12, made some startling claims on the incident. Two musicians identified as Ajibawo Lawal and Sunday Akhigbe, popularly known as Santa Boya, were found dead inside a studio in Awolusi Bus stop on September 3. Six others were found unconscious. They were found dead by residents around 7 a.m, after an all night performance inside the studio. The residents told a police source that a generator and some hard drugs were found inside the studio.
