A scald injury can happen at any age. Children, older adults and people with disabilities are especially at risk. Hot liquids from bath water, hot coffee and even microwaved soup can cause devastating injuries. Scald burns are the second leading cause of all burn injuries.

SCALD SAFETY

◽Teach children that hot things can burn. Install anti-scald devices on tub faucets and shower heads.

◾Always supervise a child in or near a bathtub.

◽Test the water at the faucet. It should be less than 100° Fahrenheit (38° Celsius). Before placing a child in the bath or getting in the bath yourself, test the water. Burn Rx Treat a burn right away. Cool the burn with cool water for 3–5 minutes. Cover with a clean, dry cloth. Get medical help if needed.

◾Test the water by moving your hand, wrist and forearm through the water. The water should feel warm, not hot, to the touch. Place hot liquids and food in the center of a table or toward the back of a counter. ◽Have a “kid-free zone” of at least 3 feet around the stove and areas where hot food or drink is prepared or carried.

◾ Open microwaved food slowly, away from the face. Never hold a child while you are cooking, drinking a hot liquid, or carrying hot foods or liquids.

◽Never heat a baby bottle in a microwave oven. Heat baby bottles in warm water from the faucet.

◾Allow microwaved food to cool before eating.

◽Choose prepackaged soups whose containers have a wide base or, to avoid the possibility of a spill, pour the soup into a traditional bowl after heating.

Airline pilot was "sucked halfway out" when cockpit windshield broke

An airline pilot had a close brush with death when he was "sucked halfway out" of the plane after a cockpit windshield blew out. A Sichuan Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday and it was later reported that the reason for the emergency landing was because the cockpit windshield blew out and almost tossed the pilot out of the plane. But for his seat belt, he would have been sucked out completely. Captain Liu Chuanjian has been hailed as a hero on social media after having to land the Airbus A319 manually. He told the Chengdu Economic Daily his aircraft had just reached a cruising altitude of 32,000ft when a deafening sound tore through the cockpit. NAF Commissions Another Combat Aircraft, Inducts Additional Vehicles For Base Defence

In its continued efforts to boost its airlift and combat support capability for Armed Forces’ operations across the country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on the 29th of January 2020, ‘accepted’ back into service another C-130H aircraft, NAF 913, after a successful Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) within the country at the 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot (631 ACMD), Ikeja, Lagos. According to its spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, this brings to 2 the number of C-130H aircraft successfully reactivated in-country within the space of one year after NAF 917 was commissioned on 24 June 2019 upon completion of in-country PDM. Air Commodore Daramola in a statement noted that NAF 917 has since been involved in so many missions both within and outside the country, including the delivery of relief materials to flood victims in Mozambique and Zimbabwe as well as the movement of logistics for ongoing operations nationwide. SARS officers allegedly chase three suspected internet fraudsters to their death

Young men in Osogbo, Osun state took to the streets to protest after three suspected internet fraudsters were allegedly chased to their death by SARS officers today September 15 According to eyewitnesses, the young men were riding in their car when the SARS officers attempted to stop them. They refused to stop and the SARS officers engaged them in a hot chase. The driver of the car veered off the road and hit an electric pole. While one of the occupants in the car died on the spot, two others died later. Aggrieved youths in the area dumped one of the corpses in front of Osun Government House, Oke Fia, and destroyed a motorcycle. Also, the protesters, who were mostly youths, also targeted police operatives and attacked many bystanders around Oke Fia, Alekuwodo, and Ilobu road. The spokesperson of the state police command is yet to comment on the incident.
